Aeroponic Cloner, "Water Heater" or "No Water Heater"?

So do u guys use one of those aquarium water heaters or nah? And if you do, what do you think is the best temperature to set it for?

P.S.: I recently got a 200 watt water heater that looks pretty decent, but it's preset to 78*F and is not adjustable. Should that be fine?

i run into trouble when the air temp goes above 63 ish. the pump creates heat and the stems go soft. so i ve only ever had to cool the water. others mite have success round 70.

The fish tank heater back right 50w, its used to maintain temperature of about 25c/77f for the duration of the cloning cycle

pump and heater, and small cfl, on 24/7 for 10 days leaves me with a grin on my face ...easy

to my blog for more https://www.rollitup.org/Journal/Entry/cloning-bubbler-n02-11-2009.28758/

note: in many instances the heat from the pumping activity supplies enough heat for the fish tank thing not to be needed

except in mid winter ....lol, you can build ur cloner small enough to take advantage of this pump friction heat

good luck

For what your doing in that oversize (LOL) home made (That is a very popular design that works great!). I would use a heater and keep your water level just below the spray heads....
Put 12ml of household bleach in 1 gallon of water and cap it.
Use 1 oz. of that bleach water in every 5 gallons of water you put in the cloner and have NO bacteria problems (rot, wilt, etc). Makes the unit far easier to clean between use's!

I got a 200w aquarium heater from Petco that keeps water temperature at around 78f and I top off the water to just under the sprinklers every 2-3 days with tap water, which already contains bleach so I don't add any. Seems to be working great, so far no complaints.

If you have a stem get brown and mushy or your success % drops.......try the bleach mix...

Sanitize between every use!

Looks like you did a fine job on your build!

Just wondering but, at 78F. How long to first root in that big sucker?
I've been buying and referbing EZ cloners from Craig's list and reselling them to friends for awhile (you would be surprised at how cheap they sell after they get their first problem and the success rate drops)....Tend to tell folks to take few days longer and run around 72-74......Just asking.
