Afghan Kush Ryder 250w HPS Grow

What's up fellow stoners

I haven't done a journal on here for ages, even though I've done a few grows between journals. So I thought I'd get one up for these special babies. I'm growing 2 Afghan Kush Ryders. I was looking for a good autoflower to grow and I've heard good things about it so I thought I'd give it a go.

I finally got the sense to buy a HPS kit instead of using my trusty CFL's. I'm looking forward to seeing the difference it makes, especially during the flower period since I only had three 20w 2700K (red) CFL's in my last setup (Plus a 125w Blue CFL).

Here's what's currently involved in my setup:
-1x 125w CFL (blue) + 3x 20w CFL (red) This is just while I wait for the HPS to arrive
-250w HPS with reflector
-Average compost, nothing special
-Tomorite fertiliser
-Tin foil lined cupboard

This reminds me, I gotta get a fan sorted because I think I'm correct in thinking HPS bulbs get hotter than CFL bulbs?

Before I get started I want to quickly mention my last grow because I was quite impressed with it. It was Auto Blue Mystic. They are pretty cheap seeds but each plant yielded half an ounce. It was the strongest stuff I've grow, it was literally silver with crystals. So you should consider giving it ago if you fancy something different.

Do you think it is worth Scroging an auto? A few of mine have been fairly stretchy with a good distance between nodes. It might give the lower buds more of a change if I move around the main cola. Opinions?

So I got my 250w HPS today. Was a nightmare trying to get the reflector in my small cupboard, I had to cut it up a bit so it would fit. I need to redo the 'door' tomorrow because it was designed for the small CFL setup I had and now because of the reflector and stuff it doesn't quite fit so I bit of light is getting out.
I've got one PC fan hanging on strings blowing air upwards towards to fan. The temperatures seem decent, I've done the hand test and everything. I think the fact that there is no fixed roof to my cupboard helps because the warm air can rise up pass the light which leaves cooler air at the bottom.

They are looking good so far, going to keep an eye on them over the next few days to check they don't get too hot. I'm gunna start giving them weak nutes tomorrow.

All is well. I scraped the tinfoil and just painted the inside of the cupboard white. The sound of the tinfoil rattling with the fan was driving me mad.

Thought I'd also upload a picture of what my setup looks like.

Has anyone had an experience with AKR? Like how much per plant and stuff..

The nutes are really diluted. The soil is crappy so they need it.

I increased the nutrient concentration today. Everything seems great so far, the leaves are a nice shade of green and the spacing between the nodes is nice and close compared to what its been like with my previous CFL grows. I'm expecting the bigger one to show it's sexy in the next couple of days.

I think one have them is female, the pistils are still very small so I'm not 100% sure. I'll know tomorrow though.

I can't quite remember when I planted them but I think they are 14 days old now. Sure, I'll check out your grow

The are really starting to develop now. The node spacing seems very compact at the moment, lets hope it stays like that

I grew this outdoor had a realy shitty season, I got about 10 grams had to cut early also got a small case of PM. Can't imagine you getting a lot more.

I get more than 10g per plant with CFL's with half the power of my hps. I'll get more than 10g.

i hope you get atleast a ounce per plant like im trying to obtain because i want to also grow that strain eventually however my next grow will be Bhudda's auto purple kush ryder you should check it out its beautiful lol your plants are deff more "beefier" than mine

They are starting to rocket up now. I've noticed that the stem is thickening much faster than what it did with CFL's which is good coz towards the end of most my grows the plants would start to lean.
