Ahhh...Heeelp?

Well, tried starting the first bean via DWC this weekend, came home to disappointment today :-/

The bean was transplanted on Saturday morning into the DWC; room temp was 77, the RH was around 47, the PH at 5.8 and the 400W (MH bulb) was about 2 1/2 feet above it running for 24 hours to help it transition as much as possible. It thrived all weekend, seemed to have a little bit of growth and it seemed to be loving it's new home as well. Woke up Monday morning and all was good, the room temp had raised to almost 79 and the PH raised to 6.1 but it was still looking healthy so it was watered, temp was lowered and then left alone for the next 8 hours while at work but came home after work, the temp had raised to 82.3, the rockwool was dried up and the plant was looking frail and almost laid over. The water seemed to be reaching the rockwool all weekend so why it didn't today, I don't know but the water level was raised and the lights were turned off to help cool the room and give it a resting period hoping it would regenerate. Now what should I do? Is it still possible this plant can make a come back? Should the lights be left off for a full 6 hours or should they be kept on to help it? I'm not sure if the root is shriveling up but it's definitely weaker. Any help would be GREAT!!!

thats a crapload of light for a just popped seed. and your heat issue. are you using nutes yet? if not,which u shouldnt be, then ph is not an issue.

Thanks for your reply ST. No, I'm not using any nutes yet and once the seed germinated it was put it under a small LED light inside a shot glass to keep the humidity but once it shed the seed casing it was transplanted into the DWC. If the light is too much at that level should I raise it?

its just a lot of light, yes raise it. i treat seedlings like clones, they go under a 4't12 fixture with one bulb for the first week or so. this is the crucial time for building the root base and too much light makes the plant spend its very limited energy just to move water and survive. ive seen so many similar posts about this on here lately and ive gotten some ugly response for saying too much light, but in the end thats what most of them were. as soon as light was raised or chaged they perked up. just think about how hard that little thing has to work to survive that light with just those first two leaves compared to a more mature plant with lots of big leaves that can turn that light to good use..

How many watts is your T12? I'm looking into purchasing one.

Hmmm...that is odd indeed...I wonder why the water didn't reach...but the light is not the issue. I clone and start seeds under a 400w light with no issues...

Think he was saying the light is to close, 400w 2 feet above a seedling without any sort of cooling will get very hot. Id raise the light.
