Hello! I'm currently in the process of setting up a new grow room, it's in a closet. I currently do not have the ability to create an exhaust for a proper carbon filter. I'm really interested in the idea of running 2 air purifier towers, 1 in the closet and 1 outside of the closet. I will make my own activated carbon filters out of the original filters and added carbon. I'm just wondering if anyone has done anything like this before for odor! I don't really have another option so I really look forward to hearing from you guys..

Are you worried about smell? Not sure that will work. Id be Investing in febreze, over that.

I use a Bionaire tower with UV oxidizer for organic vapors. Hard to say if the UV part does much, but I zip tied two layers of carbon filter pad (cut to size) and then two Bionaire "total air" filter cartridges over them. So the air goes through the filter cartridges, the carbon pad, the regular internal hepa filter, the UV element and then out. The cartridges keep the carbon pads and permanent internal filters from getting gummed up too much.

Do you use this tower exclusively? Without a inline/carbon filter?

Those HEPA air purifiers won't take care of the smell, scrubbing through carbon, purchased or DIY will be better. Also, in a small space anything like a HEPA filter unit (or dehumidifier) will generate quite a bit of heat, in a small/cramped space that can become an issue. I tried this in a small tent under the stairs that I normally only use for flowering males but when I ran some females in there the smell got out of control, even a strong smelling male caused smell issues. In a pinch something like ONA gel will take care of lingering smells but that gets expensive.

Did you even read the original post? I'm going to add activated carbon.. (1inch thick) I believe this will resolve the issue of odor.. If you haven't tried this I would suggest trying it.
