600 watt will be perfect

i would do 6 plants spread out evenly in the tent 3 rows of 3

grow them as tall as your tent allowsbongsmilie

make sure you use sunmaster or very high end bulb it will yield more weed

sweet thanks big P
started with a 400w, replaced it with three digital 250s for flowering but it just gets way too hot in there. might take out two 250s and put the 400 back in and see if that helps

1kw would be better. You could do it with a 600 and achieve acceptable plants. It comes down on how much you want to spend pretty much. 1kw lights aren't much more than 600's.

Also, 3 rows of 3 plants is 9 plants....

yea i got a 600 watt overing a canopy that mesures of 5' x 3.5'

with 6 plants yielding 1 gram per watt at best

this grow im reducing the number of plants to 4, hope it wont hurt my yields

my last grow room was 3'x2' with a 400 watt hps, 4 plants veged for 5 weeks and yielding just over 11oc's
i think i would of got alot more if i had a 4x4 setup

seeing as use a 4x4 grow tent i could tell you you will have alot better results with 2 600's. 1 600 will give you what 35-40 watts per square foot in a 4x4? im doing an aeroponic scrog in a 4x4 tent right now.. just using half the tent at the moment.. wanted to tryout a scrog with 2 250watt lights joined together to distrobute light better... so far lookin great. Check 9out my journal if you want

oh ya... dont forget your going to lose a chunk of from lumens using your cool tube or whatever you are using too!!!!!!!so really id say your at more like 25-35 watts per square foot with a 600

awesome thanks for the replies guys.. well these are the lights i have

3, 250w lumatek switchable with ultralight hydrofarm reflector/socket assembly
1 600w lumatek HPS
1 400w HPS electronic with a batwing from htgsupply

i was thinking about putting the 600 HPS in there with a 250wMH or a 400w? would adding a 400 to a 600 make 1000w spread over evenly or am i losing lumens by doing this compare to a 1000w?? or if i ad the 250s will the lumens from the 600w just outdo the 250 anyway. i can only afford one aircooled hood right now so i am thinking about sticking the 600 and then trying to see whats temps are like with the 400 in there too. if it gets too hot i guess ill throw in a 250. ill let you guys know what happens. i also noticed that buds are smaller under the MH but more resinous. the HPS buds are bigger but less resinous.

im starting to think i should have gone with the 1000w but i figured that 1000 would be too much for a 4x4. im not sure how hot they get inside the reflectors either. kind of makes me nervous. i guess ill use the 600 this time and see what happens

also im gona grab me a hortilux super hps. ive heard good things about these. anyone use em?

so i took everyones advice and got a 1000w for my 4x4 tent i got an insane deal so i had to take it. its a nextgen 1000w hps/mh 120/240v with a great white reflector from sunlight supply (man this thing is huge!) and a hortilux super hps bulb. everything looked ok this morning but i had noticed temps going up to 84/85 in some cases. i have a 6" 188 cfm fan as an exhaust for the light but im starting to think i should have paid the extra $6 and for the *" 471cfm fan and just stuck an adapter on it.. wish i knew while i was there i think i might have scratched it up too much with ducting to return it.

i did notice that the plants did look a bit like they are stressed. is it possible that there is too much light? i don't think its a heat issue cuz i have plenty of intakes/exhaust and fans inside. i might be able to raise the light about another 6" but i don't think i can get more than 2' from the tops. the tops on the plants are about 6"- 8" from the rest of the canopy.

a guy told me to bend the tops over so that they are laying on their side. would this hurt the plant too much or have an effect on the yield on the colas?
