I am very new to growing and I am just brain storming as my mind tends to do with all my hobbies. From what I have learned so far one of the most important parts in growing a healthy plant is healthy roots and to have healthy roots you need to have plenty of oxygen in the soil. I currently using smart pots with FFOF and Perlite to try to get the most oxygen to the roots as possible. My idea is to simply add a aquarium air pump and a airstone to the bottom of each pot. I realize that leaving the air pump on 24/7 would dry out the soil too fast and air prune roots but I think that letting the air pump run for 30 min a day would help get oxygen to the soil and dramatically improve root health and plant growth. What does everybody think about this. Im assuming since nobody does this there must be some reason??? It makes since in my mind..
