Airy buds?

ok so ive ben doin this a long time and have always had airy buds no matter what strain i try. i have 2 1000w hps with 4 flood drain trays 2x4. i use botanicare grow and bloom i have tryd outhers but i get the best yeild from botanicare. my ph is always around 6.0 and my ppms are raised from 300 in veg to 1200 by the end of flowering period before flushing. i am also runing co2 and my temps stay around 75 degrees. i use cool tubes and my ventalation is excelent so i just dont understand why my buds are always so airy. any in sight on this would be much appreciated.

sounds like you have everything covered so I am thinking it must be your strains.

I feel you Kahtn , my assumption is the way i dry and cure i dont think i have mastered that yet im not bad but i'd say maybe 6/10. Just my 2 cents , what is your drying and curing techniques ? And could this be a possibility?

I would have to agree. What have you tried to grow?

Cool tube try an open air reflector.

I can't say for certain, but isn't supplemental co2 recommended for hotter grows, like 85*f plus?

i cut em down trim em up and hang em to dry till the stem almost snaps then i cut all the buds and put em in jars usualy 3/4 of an oz to mason jar i then open the jars 3 times a day for about two weeks then i let em sit in the jars for a couple of weeks pulling out what i want. ive tryd papya from nirvana, buble gum from paradise kali mist, white russian, ice, mandalays hash berry, and sadahu, white widow, jack here, the hog, heavy duty fruity, skunk, diesel, nyc diesel, lemon diesel, and a few outhers i cant think of. co2 is just extra food for the plants no matter what temp it is but the best results are around 70 to 75 degrees. i have tryd outher air cooled reflectors and i do like the monster xxxl reflectors but i like my air cool tubes because theres no chance of heat leaks or build up. i harvest when the trichs are in the three stages- clear cloudy and amber, i try to let em go a little longer so theres more amber and cloudy then clear. well if theres any good strains that u have tryd and they dont come out airy let me know and i will try that. many thanks for the responses.

No see thats where your going wrong, harvesting with white hairs, the bud has no guts because it didnt get a chance to swell and harden. Next time wait till almost no hairs left,just resin sacks.

I'm no pro, but I do know that to get the benefit of that CO2, you need temps closer to 80-85. It's a balance, as temp rises, CO2 use rises. 75 degrees is perfect if you are not supplementing extra CO2 (there is the right amount of CO2 in the air). As temp rises, growth rate rises SO LONG as there is enough CO2 to photosynthesize faster. That's when CO2 supplementing will help you out.

airy buds is very indicative of sativa dominant strains. Also plants grown with not enough light will also produce more thin airy buds. I suggest going for something very indica dominant and possibly up the wattage.

With trying that many different strains, it has to be something to do with your environment/setup. You must have obviously had different pheno's of the same strain after running that many different ones, and if they all ended up "airy", then it has to be environment/setup related.

well i also am having the same prob,but even being airy they are looking great just wish i could get some beef to them.

yeah i told you what it is....its premature buds.... look up foxtails and you will see you need to give your buds an extra two or three weeks and let the buds put on weight... i had the same problem growing and so did my buddy. lights could have a lot to do with it also but they are two to 4 weeks premature. try taking cfls and sticking them up under the plants so the light can penetrate deeper within the plants and reach the buds.. co2 is a necessary molecule needed by all plants as all plants absorb co2 and converts it to oxygen through photosynthesis
