AK Bean Brains. What’s the verdict?

I have been eyeing his genetics for a while, but Matt Riot is calling him a farce. What do y’all say? I’m a young-er fellow so I don’t know those old genetics. Memories fade and all but who has popped his stuff and can attest?

I seriously doubt those are legit but most people wont know cause they never smoked the real thing

I’ve ran Tknl5haze and black Domina bx from Ak based on comments made about how absolutely Potent these cultivars where supposed to be. I found the results to be underwhelming personally. That’s not to say there where trash. Just not the super potent dick in the dirt weed I was looking for. ( I definitely like the Tknl5haze better then the Black dom)
As far as finding all theses amazing 30 year old stashes of freezer beans I’m pretty sceptical. But who knows.

I've grown 6 different strains from him, flowered out 5. All of it has been quality smoke :bigjoint: 100% germination rate, and his beans always sprout first, it's like they're in a race :lol: So far the phk has been my favorite, and my dad loved the CGPR x TKNL5 Haze.
As far as legitimacy, I reckon the only person that really knows, is the person making the seeds. AK seems to be a pretty salt of the earth guy, I haven't heard any of his customers throwing any accusations towards him. He's pretty active on this forum, and always helpful.
I'd head over to the AK thread and read the last 10-15 pages. Make you're own call :blsmoke:

I'm skeptical of everyone, I think that's healthy. Seed breeders are a trippy lot and I think the industry is rife with folks pulling stuff out of their asses and trying to one-up each other.
I trust AK Bean Brain as much as I trust any breeder, which is to say that I think he is as legit as any of the trusted breeders. This comment made by AK Bean Brain about the Beatrix choice demonstrates honesty:
"I’ve been off the forums for a month or so ,anyone wanting to know anything about my work or preservation projects can just email me no secrets here. So what he's saying here is that he sent in two of these stashes of super old "freezer beans" into the original breeders of these strains to review whether or not they think they are legit. I think that goes a long way, he could have just said they were real and the best thing ever and everyone can fuck off like Mat riot would have, but instead he sent these seeds to the original breeders to decide. If you knew what you had was fake and you were just trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes, I don't think you would send it into the original breeders to judge for themselves.

As to whether old-school strains are potent or not, that's a different discussion and is somewhat subjective in my opinion, but whether or not he is legit as in honest about what he is selling I say yes.

I really liked PNWHashPlant/SuperSkunk x Black Domina and find it to be very potent.
 
His beans aren't crazy expensive like Riots gear. The AK thread says otherwise to his claims, so why not just get a few packs & see for yourself. Or do you have customers that want the "zaza"? If so just get something with Runtz in it lol

Yeah I've seen a few people say the weed isn’t as potent as he claims

only one I can confirm is fire is Consumption

Ive grown Consumption f2 and Wikki Sour(Sour D x Consumption) and both were fire

both of those came from Dynasty/Professor P tho
 
Irrespective of who is legitimate it generally seems as if Matt Riot tries to delegitimize anyone who offends his weed ego. He regularly denigrates breeders in the style of preacher appealing to belief rather than providing information. Honestly this behaviour looks like a self serving bully, childish, and makes him seem so untrustworthy that as a regular consumer why would you risk giving him money?

Ak bean brains doesnt bully people and looks to have an Interesting catalogue. Looks worth some exploration to me, whether there will be a holy grail in there, who knows.

I bet you had a light leak somewhere, I’d say 90% of herms come from light leaks, or the last 10% would be extreme temp fluctuations like low 60’s to 80(more thank 1 fluctuation a day). Buddy of mine the other day swore up and down he had no light leaks, and he didn’t for 6 hours of the day...

Read that entire page. Then search “Matt Riot” on the forum. If he says someone is a farce, they’re probably the opposite of a farce.

This is exactly why you do your homework. If Matt Riot says someone is a farce and other unrelated, respected folks also say that someone is a farce, they're probably a farce.

If Matt Riot says someone is a farce, but other unrelated respected folks don't agree, it's probably just someone who didn't properly stroke Matt Riot's ego. AK Bean Brains seems to be generally accepted as legit by most of the old forum heads, so I'd lean toward the "he didn't stroke Matt Riot's ego" perspective. I find it hard to believe that Prof P/Dynasty/Relic would have collaborated with AK Bean Brains on the Consumption if Prof P doubted AK's legitimacy.
