Aloe species

My climate is perfect for succulents and I have about a 10x10' shaded area of my garden that I'd like to dedicate to Aloe + succulents.

My searches have come up with lots of threads on how to incorporate aloe extracts into my gardening, but nothing on the specific species.

Do you grow your own aloe? What species would you recommend?

I think regular aloe vera grows the fastest/biggest. thats about all i know.
