Am I doing anything terribly wrong here?

Hello there, I'm starting my first grow (kind of a test run) and I was just wondering if there's any major problems with my setup. I germinated 2 seeds in a paper towel and they're now in Jiffy pots, just broke the surface. I have 600W fluorescent lights, and will be transplanting into a mix of Hyponex soil, perlite, and bone meal (I'm really not sure I'm doing the right thing with the soil - this is just what was recommended by a buddy, considering my budget). Not using any nutrients at this point, but was planning to start using FoxFarm TigerBloom soon. I water every 2 or 3 days, and I'm using a 20/4 light cycle for now. This is all done in a 30"Wx50L"x90"H closet. Everyone has their own strategies, so I've kind of had to use bits and pieces and I'm not sure if they all fit lol.

Thanks!

Add blood meal and dolomite lime to your mix also . The tiger bloom is for flowering though get fox farm grow big for veg if u want to use that line of products .I hear good things about them . How old are your plants now?

And how the hell do u have 600w of flourscents ? Did u mean mh or hps?

2 200 W bulbs and 2 100 W bulbs, kind of had to mix and match.

So should the bone meal, blood meal, perlite, and dolomite lime all be in the mix at the same time, or at different stages? Good to know about the foxfarm products

when the plants move on to the flowering stage , get yourself a 400w hps lamp if you can .
Will make your plants flower alot better

Do your own nutrient research. If there is one thing I see on here it is that everybody is programmed to say Fox Farms and Attitude.

Are those actual watts or equivalent watts?

that is alot of watts and will be ideal for the VEG stage - i agree about getting a HPS for the flowering stage as then 'red spectrum' which the hps omits is ideal for flowering!

as for nutes i would try and get a 'base' nute for VEG & flowering then find some additives to go along with that - look out at the ADVANCED NUTRIENTS they are amazing

u can also pick up some molases aswell for VERY cheap this will help to feed the micronutrients in the soil which benefits the plant in the long run -

also agree with getting an OSC fan to blow the leaves and move around the air - Co2 is also essential for the plants

hope all goes well :D

take some pics of ur setup and grow!

What's wrong with attitude and fox farm? I'm not programed to say anything about them. I did my research and found that with the budget I'm working with for nutes and soil, fox farm's the best for me. I've had a few very successful grows using thier stuff and stand behind them 100 percent. And the freebies attitude gives you is the reason I choose them. My best plant yet (LA Woman), was a freebie from them.

Yeah all of that can be mixed together . Go to the organic section or search for organic fertilizer soil mixes for more info and quanities .blood meal is a nitrogen source bone meal is phospurus and potassium the dolamite lime keeps your ph in check. If u can get your hands on some bat gauno would be good too since your soil has nothing in it .
