Am I using the correct lights ?

I started using this blue/purple T8 fluorescent light. My babies are very very small (they just germinated) , will this light work ?

which would you suggest ? and do I then leave the light on day and night ?

I would suggest a real plant light. I’m not sure where you are and how available equipment is. Even a cheap Amazon blurple beats what you are using. Or multiple CFL bulbs.

I've heard about T5 fluorescent tubes working well. Is this true ?

Yes. A good T5 array works well. Better for vegging than flowering but a lot of people have done full grows under fluorescent. T8 and T12 are not really useful in small areas.

will a normal 5w LED globe work too ?
