Amsterdam advice!

Hey, havnt been on in a while due to me working full time finally! Which means money for my grow cuboard, and trip to amsterdam!

But iv never been before and its my first holiday with my friends! i really dont want to stay in a hostel as i dont trust anyone, specially strangers! So i want my belongings safe, so deffo thinking of a hotel.

So questions:

Found hotel and flights from friday to monday, in city centre, for £275 and this is on a b&b basis, so think thats breakfast. Is this a good price?

How much spending money would i need?

What I.D do the coffe shops accept as i dont want to be carrying my passport with me?

We was thinking of going start of april, but of course 20th of april is 420! so is there any special events going on that is worth waiting for?

ID = driving/provisional is good enough for the coffeeshops, thats a fairly decent price, amsterdam is not cheap in general, it all depends on how much you smoke etc.. to how much money you spend, i would say £100+ a day if you are going to be eating out etc.. too, most places have unlimited ribs for 12.50 and they are delicious!! have a browse on google for amsterdam coffeshop forums you will find the best info on them and what shops have good strains etc... in at the moment.

relatively, amsterdam is inbetween. not as cheap as berlin in germany, not as pricey as paris, france....

i stayed at the StayOkay in Zeerburg. nice hostel for the price. pitchers of heineken in the 'cafeteria' during the afternoon/early night for the pre-game.

Make sure you go to the heineken experience, go to the Iamsterdam sign, got to the vangohn exhibit... coffee shopwise the one i liked the most was la tertulia... i'd stay away from the real commercialized/famous coffee shops b/c they're always full and pricey..... have fun

Can't remember much other than take LOTS of money. Shit ent cheap.

Don't go on the weekend of April 20th unless you don't mind frat type assholes.

If you're going and the coffeeshops get boring (GASP) check out some of the meusems.

how many people are you taking with you? You might be able to get a hostel and fill the room with your friends.

I can see why with them, but Europe....I even have my issues with America, but come on you ungrateful bastards....LOL. 2 times in one century Canada and the US grabbed the bucket and started bailing water on that sinking ship.

lol, not very well educating on history are you? and for your info canada was british then aswell as new zealand and australia so where there more of us than americans? we also did alot more fighting against the japanese than what you have most likely been taught!

u need to look up on your history, we stopped the nazis from taking over the UK because we had air supremecy, and you will find it was russia that captured berlin so........ i think you need to look into your history abit more

As a brit i'd certainly say that we see canadians as wicked people, we just have a stereotype of friendly nice people americans, we don't really hate em over here, in fact i always love meeting the in town just to chat and see what they're like, but there's certaily a prejudice that 15 minutes down the line the yank will be spouting crap

As to militatry ties, well the last story i can think of where we let the americans do our work you threw a grenade at our prisoner i know i know, it's not all bad, swings and roundabouts, but yes, we have a prejudice that it could all go pear shape fairly fast. For instance i respect americans to an extent, and then they tell me they want a "feeeeee-let" of salmon, that is when i start not liking americans!
