AN ph perfect and tap water help

Tap water 7.6-7.8 ppm ~300

Do I add ph down to get to around 5.9/6 and then add the ph perfect grow micro bloom? I see it falls down to 5.6 and about 600ppm. So that means I have 300 ppm of mutes since my tap water is 300ppm already?


I’ve read people do and don’t use ph down on their tap water and just add ph perfect. What’s the truth?

Also for bloom am I really using 44ml per 3 gal of water? That sounds like a recipe for nute burn

300ppm is pretty hard water. I would add your nutes first before adjusting pH. This way you know what your pH is and not hoping AN's "pH Perfect" works and is at a solid 5.8

Unless someone on the same water supply responds your not gonna get a perfect answer for your case. I use ph perfect sensi coco and add it to my tap water (tap is 150ppm) it comes out perfect every time. And no don’t use the directions on the bottle that is way too much in most cases.i feed 500-700 ppm for veg and 650-1000 ppm for flower depending on strain and what week its in. I just go up incrementally and watch the very ends of the lead tips, you can see them barely start to burn if you put too much.

If I need to adjust ph I do it after mixing nutes (with AN ph perfect never really have to unless and additive throws it out of range)

300 ppm is pretty high like @BDGrows mentioned.

if you are new, i'd think about buying a RO unit or buying RO water from walmart or grocery store.

When using AN PH Perfect, you should always do your nutes first. According to them, you shouldn't have to adjust the PH at all, but I'm pretty sure that the instructions are said to be for RO water. In any event, don't adjust the PH until you've already added the nutes and they've circulated for a little while so you can see what the final PH comes down too. PH Perfect will continue buffering the PH a little while after you apply the nutrients, it isn't instant.

I had all kinds of issues mid to late flower with tap water and AN sensi ph perfect.. I would get calcium deficiencies and adding calmag only destroyed the ph perfect causing massive crashes in ph daily.. 300ppm tap water is def no good really.. my tap is 37ppm and i believe this to be the reason for needing the calmag.. anyway i have gone back to Canna aqua as the buffers work really well and i only have to mildly adjust ph once every few days.. i believe for the best results using AN you really need to invest in a RO filter and use RO water..

I still use some of AN addatives like B52 and Overdrive but didnt want to use RO water when my tap water is so clean as is..

Looks like I need to buy an RO filtration system of sorts. The ROI is easy and justifiable compared to buying distilled water.

PH perfect is meant specifically for RO water and to only be used with other pH perfect products. The way I understand it, how it works is it has pH adjusters covered in a coating that dissolves in specific PH ranges. It constantly swings back and forth. When the solution goes acidic, it dissolves one coating releasing a pH raising chemicals and vice versa. If you put it into tap, or any other, water containing reactive elements, like calcium, they throw that chemical balance out of whack. If you try and adjust PH, you throw it out of whack. When you're in RO just mix to your intended EC and let it fly.

Dont adjust anything just add AN , start with 1/3 of strenght..Mt tap water was 500ppm, and 8.6ph..I only had cal mag isusses.

According to them you don't do anything. But from hearing some peoples experiences what AN says and what's true are two different things.

Well, it's as with any company's nutrient line up...the experience of doing it is, unfortunetly, not always the same as what the company advertises. So I don't think that it's just AN being deceitful or anything, or no more than all the other companies that is. But personally, I feel like it's foolish to recommend anyone to grow plants (especially in hydro) without at least a PH meter, and to not have PH adjusters on hand just in case. If you're an experienced grower who has used this line up before, then sure you probably can do it without meters. But I don't think that it is good policy to just put your faith into the nutrients and not even check to make sure it's doing as it is supposed too.
