Angryblackman's 1st CFL Grow

So I had a fairly good outdoor 1st grow and now have the bug. I was tossing out an old entertainment center and thought that I could re purpose it for a nice little indoor setup. Now keep in mind this is my first indoor grow and it's all a "test" so I know that there will be things that I can improve on.

I have my MMJ card as well as my wife so this is all legal where I live..... blah blah blah.....

On to some pics from a few weeks ago and shortly after the setup.

I am running 3 23w, 1 42w, and 2 17w 2ft CFL's in the veg chamber and am running 1 23w and 1 42w CFL in the "flower" chamber (which is being used to start some bagseed that was given to me). I am still sorting out what I am going to do in the veg chamber though. I was considering mounting 3 porcelain fixtures from top to bottom on each wall (12 total including the door) and then a top setup with 2 fixtures. I just realized I am rambling....

It looks like this isn't your first CFL grow, but it is!! And i have to say, impressive setup Looks like you're doing your homework and i must admit, i feel a bit ashamed of my setup now, though i threw mine together in 2 hours and just kept adding to it. Like you said, you have the bug, so you'll see what works best for you after a couple grows. By the looks of it, with all the care you put into your setup, i'm sure you'll have no problems ironing out the wrinkles. Keep your thumbs green, bro!

Thanks for the props. I did a ton of research before getting started and I still have a ton of errors to learn from in the near future too. But it's all worth the fun that I am having with the project.

AngryBlackMan, I'm gonna call you ABM...So ABM, i'm on my first CFL grow right now too, you don't happen to be in Cali? You said it perfectly, i had some success outdoors, now i got the bug. I mean, still growing outdoors come spring, but why not a lil winter indoor if CFL's are so cheap? Ironing things out myself, wanting to expand already, but it's fucking fun, huh?! And all the errors you make along the way are totally part of the fun, not to mention the best way to learn. It's good to research, but nothing beats good ol' hands on experience.

P.S. Got a spare TV cabinet for me, mine is the retarded offspring of yours



And of course a little more room to flower, see what I mean when I say I rushed putting my room together? lol (not the same plants, these are ABUSED dispensary clones)

A little about what I have in there...

Clones

2 GDP
2 Kushberry
1 Green Crack
1 Platinum OG
1 Redwood Kush
1 Pineapple Thai

In the other side is all bagseed but more than likely White Widow or Northern Lights.

I have them in SuperSoil and am using only collected rainwater and fish emulsion for Veg and will be using some Black Strap and Tiger Bloom for flower.

They are all on 24/0 and I will probably wait till they get a little bigger and take some clones before I start to flower them. If all goes well I will keep a couple of these in veg till it's time to take them outdoors. The redwood kush is probably the best candidate so far.

Your looking good, just dont get too far ahead of yourself! rofl, I have a 4x8ft that i wanted for everything, its full of budding plants now. I have 2 other closets full too, started to clone and had about a 50% success rate then added a simple heating pad under the clones pots and boom, 90% but boom plants grow big! I transfer to budding room about 3ft and 12 fills up my 4x8ft budding room.

You have 6 on one side and like 15 on the other, if they all have seedlings started, you deff going to outgrow that area.

Most of the ones on the right side aren't going to sprout. They have been sitting out there for about 2 weeks now and it's just a matter of me cleaning them out. I would say that I will only have about 6 on the right and 8 on the left once that's clean. Also keep in mind that I still have the bottom 2 areas that aren't being used at the moment and could easily converted into a seedling area on one side and a rooting clone area on the other. I am at capacity unless I find a few clones that I have been looking for and will not be adding any more until I start flowering.

I saw the bottom two compartments and instantly thought 12/12 from seed in one and cloning in the other ...your setup is really cool man i wish i would have put effort into my veg and flower areas like you did lol +rep

LOL...yeah, ABM is putting it down, right! I already started cruising Craigslist for free wardrobes, tv cabinets, entertainment centers, etc...haha. Well, anything that motivates me to improve my grow is good, right? Love having resources like this to draw inspiration from, keep up the good work!

Thanks man.. I'm glad that a few of you are interested in what I have going on here. I will make sure to post my progress as well as any changes that I may make to my setup.

So...talking techniques. Are you planning on FIMming, topping, or LSTing your plants at all? Seeing as I'm in the beginning stages of my first indoor grow, I haven't had much time to experiment with it myself. But here's my opinion on the matter...Personally, I'm down with LST, but am reluctant to Top or FIM at all.

I will probably try it at some point, and one of the clones I'm growing has like 3 main shoots because thats how it came from the dispensary. But I think what I want to set up is a mini-SCROG, just LST the top into the mix so it's level with the branches. That way it's minimum stress on the plant, plus my seeding are throwing out branches like crazy! Just wanted to get some opinions on the matter...Sorry for shanking ya, might wanna get a tetanus shot, that shiv was fresh outta Pelican Bay state prison.

Ya know what I really like about this grow, it's in an entertainment center! Tons of people out there have access to used entertainment centers now because of the wall-mounted flat screen craze. So what else are ya gonna do with them right? =D

Damn I keep dodging that damn tetanus shot but now I have to! LMFAO!!!

I was going to LST them but I think that I will give that a shot on the next round that go through there. I haven't done it yet and just wanna see what I can produce straight clone before I start messing with them. That way when something does go wrong I will be able to pinpoint my error. I may mess with the bagseed when they stretch out a bit more though.. Hmmmm Now you have me thinking...

Thanks! I just couldn't toss this thing out knowing that I wanted to do an indoor grow. My wife told me that if I could conceal it well enough I could have the green light. So this monster was born. My buddy and I built it on a Saturday afternoon (minus lighting) and had clones in it by the following Monday.

Threw this together last night for 14 dollars, gotta finish it up today with a velcro light-tight door, mylar and do some wiring and ventilation...Hopefully I can put my seedlings in here tonight. I had the black plastic leftover from building my last grow area, and I couldn't finish this one because I emptied an entire roll of duct tape on the monster. I will never buy a grow tent, seeing as this was incredibly easy and cheap; and I can make one any size I want to fit the room it will live in. This sucker is huge, like 50+ inches wide, 40 inches tall, and 26 deep. I'm 6'0" and I can chill inside comfortably...lol

Looking good.. I have been feverishly browsing threads looking to something similar to what I have and tackle lighting but I have yet to find anything that I can reference. So I went out to the cabinet and moved a few things around to make room in the flowering chamber for the clones. I figure that with their current height I can toss them into veg in the next week or so. I really need to get off my ass and get this chamber completed!

Here is what I did with the seedlings. Now I know that it's bad juju to put more than 1 plant per container but it's just bagseed and anything that I get out of it will be a learning experience. I have never taken plants from seed to flower so if I can get these to produce anything at all in a crowded pot then the next grow will be that much easier on my mind. The other little guys are just gonna stay in the cups and will remain in the flowering chamber when the time comes.
