Another grow tent heat issue

Alright peeps... I just finished my first 400 watt hps grow and had a partial cool tube. the hurricane class with bulb was open on one side in the tent and sucking out hot air with a 250cfm booster home depo inline fan. temps were hot mid 80's thru the grow. Now doing my second wanting to get temps down and did a full tube with the 250 cfm inline, ducting goes from the outside of the tent to the bulb out with ducting and thru the 250cfm fan and a smaller 80cfm inline sucking air out the top. temps at 92degrees 30% hum both times a small fan was in the tent. tent measurments are 3x3x6. HELP!!

I honestly cant tell you what to do, but whatever you do I hope it works and good luck to you.

how did your bud in the mid 80s turn out?

buds turned out fine i guess. that's all i know since it was my first grow. I think i should have yeilded more than what i was suppose to.

What are your temps outside of the tent? You can't expect your tent temps to be any lower then that. I have my tent in a bedroom setup the same as your first run. The temps run about 5 degrees hotter then my bedroom. In the summer it gets in the 90s in the room so a window a/c unit in the bedroom does great.

I would suggest getting a real fan though. The booster fans your using are rated for moving air that is already moving at 250cfm (hence BOOSTER). Try a Vortex type fan.

I would love to get a big vortex fan but i am cheap and a do it yourself kind of guy. I heard those fans are too loud and i live in an apartment. What i did do is get a better thermometer and another 6 in inline fan. i have 250 on the diy cool tube and 250 just for the room. I am in arizona so it is f in' hot. Like you said it won't be cooler than my ambient temps. The extra fan did get the temps down to mid 80's like before and i can get the light closer to the clones and they seem to like it so far. I wanted it to be perfect, but all that matters is long as they aren't stressed i suppose. I didn't know if it was the heat that affected the yeild, so i wold try something different. For heat.... get bigger fans for exhaust and more intakes to get more fresh air in, plus the proper ducting and good to go.

Yeah, booster fans are a waste of money with out any actual centrifugal blowers/vortex style fans

Also you said it is really hot where you live...that seems like that would be the problem. I would suggest a small cheap portable a/c right near the tent, the cooler the air the cooltube is sucking in the better results you will have.\\

Even a window A/C will be a great idea, you could find one used for under $100 easily.

Being a DIY type person is great, but you cant build everything sometimes its better to invest a little money to get a little more out of it.

Yeah, I don't want to be a dick, but a fart fan that cost $15 at OSH mounted sideways (i.e. not even properly, but still blowing out a hole in the side). Keeps a small mylared closet nice and cool to me (based on initial testing)...this is running two 150w HPS mounted side by side (see my grow journal) pics of the closet is there - I would say similar to a tent setup in terms of volume and temperature.

It moves 50 cfm and is not especially noisy, and yeah I "smoke tested" it and yeah it moved it out purty lickety split...

I think the inlines are for commercial ops in Holland n' shit...

it says those inline fans are made in canada and CSA approved.... NICE

get an air conditioner

this blower works great i have 4 of them they move up/down also it has 2 plugs on the side 3 speeds they are the best bang for the buck

I can see myself using a vortex fan if i had a house and a nice grow room, but i have a tent that is 3x3x6 and with common sence i can't get the tent cooler than the room. I would take a pic but i have newly rooted clones in there ( which are sensitive to heat newly rooted) and they are doing very fine under the 400hps. I just lowered it to 2 feet above the plants so they won't stretch much.

I would love to get an ac but I don't want my bill so high i have the man knocking at my door. Since i have the thread going... I am using hydro DWC and I took my clones and put them directly in the tent should i give them grow and bloom ferts or just bloom?? I'm adding micro as well with the solution. What ppms do you run? Thanks guys

I believe you need to be running alot of power before "the man" comes knocking at your door. One way I look at things is you're computer probably puts out around 500w when it's runnin full bore. I've seen some pretty intense 4.2KW a/c's sure but really... if an a/c is going to put you over the "limit" whatever that is... you're probably running too much power already.

I'm also doing a DWC bubbler setup and if you're clones aren't very old you need to start them off in a very low ppm solution so that you don't overdue it and kill em. I think I have mine at like 250 ppm but they are also into their 2nd week since roots. If you are vegging them use veg nutes and vise/versa. I haven't heard of anyone using both before... alot of people talk of flushing the plants between nutrient change overs.
