I know I know there are quite a few of these. In this instance my question relates to a more specific circumstance.
A friend has asked me to build him an LED system to replace his 2 x 600w hps system which will live in a 4x4 tent. He regularly ends up toasting his tops buds & has seen how little wattage I use in comparison to him so has decided to give LED a try.
In UK the utility prices are so high we are literally being bent over a table & boned by the gas & electricity companies so reducing consumption is a big thing for a lot of us.
Now this person tends to grow 4 plants vertically. Minimal training. He just uses those round metal frame support type things for his plants.
I know strips are the flavour of the month & I can see why. I have a couple of DIY panels I’ve built using Samsung strips & my plants love them. That said I grow scrog style so that growing style & strips work together really well. They may not work so well though for vertical growers.
I could be wrong of course but all my grow spaces are vertically challenged so I have no experience of growing vertically with LED’s. I’m also not sure if this person would take to a vertical LED panel & I’m not overly confident supplying something in a format I have at least used myself.
A LED strip build would probably be a little cheaper & definitely easier to construct but I am thinking that cobs may be better for a vertical grower.
