How do I keep them small? Do I have to start flowering or top them? ?
There are lots of ways, you can top em, lst em, supercrop em, mainline em, bonsai em, grow em under 12/12 from seed. With the light you have best to flower em at around a foot tall

OK thanks I'll look up those methods but do you think I can flower with the same lights that come with t5 for 12/12 cycle or will I have to change to a redish spectrum bulb ?

I actually flower with T5's, and find a mixed spectrum is best check my sig link 8)

Don't know if the GE 4100K's come in 2 foot, they prolly do? They are great for yields

For a new grower I say all you need to do is read read read. Then take what you read and toss it out the window and try stuff yourself. What works for one guy might not work for another. There is a lot of crazy information on here and you have to pick and choose what suits you.

Are tues fluorescent tubes or some other kind of light. I'm not too good with all the acronyms yet some but not all. 4100k is the color temp? And t5 Is the tube type

I really like that used the space available. I did something similar. But I use cfl I ran into a problem with my oldest. She is hitting the top of my cabnit I built. To bring the plant down so I can flower her. I'm slowly pulling a string tighter that is tied to the top and it's bending her down. You should flower soon

not sure what you're askin?
It's a fluorescent light . I was wondering if the base gets hot when the lights run. Then I was saying I use cfls because I have small area too but that get hot at the base and it raise to almost 80.

T5 tubes get hot as well, they are basically just unwound cfl's

First off, lose the aluminum foil. It's not doing you any good and just holding on to heat. Go up to Amazon and order you some mylar blankets. They run about 10 dollars for a pack of 10 or 20 of them. Just use those and tape or glue to your cardboard. They'll reflect over 90% of your light and be a vast improvement.

Secondly, keep the lights closer as you start out. It's a bit late now, but the closer you can keep the light, and if you top them a few times, you'll be able to get a lot lower, bushier plant that'll give you more in the short space you have.
