any cheaper alternatives to floraflex rockwool cube caps?

What exactly do they do? I'll have to check YouTube to see what exactly their function is, but it looks like something you could make with a block of plastic and a dremel or have 3D printed.

Or some panda film with a slit cut in it... Or anything else opaque for that matter.

well they cover but they also distribute water from a drip system over the whole cube evenly

I bought mine for 3.5 at hydro store. I'm DTW and these really improve even watering.
