any electricians around

hey guys

i have a 8k watt lighting controller the one with the intermac timer
i was wondering if anybody knew how to wire it to my breaker.i just need to know what gauge wire to use . also
i want to replace my 15 amp breaker with a 40 amp 2 p0le breaker. the thing is, the breaker that controls my grow room also controls my computer room upstairs.if i install the 40 amp how will that effect upstairs. or should i just install a 40 amp sub
panel for that room. please your imput is greatly needed.

So you are wanting to send 240 Volts to this controller. And Have 120 volt still run to your computer. This can not be done from that one 40 amp two pole breaker. A two pole breaker, means that it is pulling 120 volts twice. Sorry if you already know this......
You will have to put them on two totally different systems. OR!! You could split off a 120Volt sytem from the 40AMP breaker, but this would be more work and more money for nothing. Pop out two more plates from the breaker box and slam a 40amp breaker across the power bars and wire the two rooms to the two different breakers.


What all are you going to run off this controller? The lights? Are they magnetic or Digital? How many?

for 8k watts lighting conroller, I assume, to controll 8 1k watt hids... I would run a 6-3 romex wire controlled by a 220 40 amp breaker, the circuit that controls your computer room, I would just leave that where it is, since your new line would be dedicated to your lighting/... Im an electrician btw; or you could run this line to a subpanel near your grow, and wire your controller and lighting from there... good luck!!
