Any guesses on this new panel i got?

So, I picked up my first led panel. I have just about zero information on it and wondered if any of you could tell anything about it from pictures. Its from a company called grow evolution. They don't have this model on their website yet and no answer back from the folks over there yet. All I know is that th box says 4 x 25 x 3w... or similar. each of the little tiny squares is a light.

EDIT: As to what I'm actually asking of you guys... I don't know. Any light you can shed on this light. I know basically nothing of LED's so I'm a complete noob again (can you tell from my silly question?).

Well it certainly lights up that bathroom. I know nothing of leds as well but that panel sure is bright.

When I turned it on halfway, my eyes hurt, and I was behind it. I have 2... I honestly think I won't be able to use both because they are so bright. I know looking at these lights is bad, but to my sunglasses covered eyes, it was brighter to look at than the 1000w I run. Not saying it is brighter... I don't understand all that lumen stuff.

Anyways, thanks for commenting. I'm beyond excited to get these things home and put some plants under them.

Its a multi chip led light. Each one of those lights is a multichip led that have multi colored leds on them each.

They probably run a little less than 25w but thats a pretty big unit for just 3 so it looks like it could handle them at full power.

Where did you get it and how much did it cost??

It's from a company called grow evolution. I'm not sure the cost. I'm testing them for the guys. I think these are the first they have released, if I'm correct, they just got them shipped a couple weeks ago. They aren't even up on their website yet. I've seen some good results from MedScientist using one of their panels, although it's a different one than mine.

Damn thats awesome! I wish i could test out some LEDs. Ive been thinkin up a way to make my own multichip led and really want to use one for a mini indoor grow.

They seem to be nothing else but multichip COB LEDs.

These tend to have somewhat lower efficiency than other types, due to the heat on a quite limited space and the questionable quality of the LEDs.

Does kinda look like 4x 50watt multichips with all same color.

I cant see any blue from the pics, is there any?
I would want a bit of other spectrums, could easily supplement with other lights though.

But...sure is bright, makes me think maybe those are each 100w multichips maybe?

It's 300w. 3w x 25 in each reflector so 75w x 4.

There is some blue, and I think he said there is Infared? Could that be? Is that used for growing?

I tried to take more pics, when I put my fingers in front of the light you can see different colors cast on the sheets. Doesn't that have to do with different wavelengths bending around the slits between fingers. It's like I'm back in Physics class. Jeez I hated Physics class, even though I loved math and science of any other kind.

I just wondered... is this light potentially really dangerous for my eyes. I mean I know HID is bad for your eyes too, but this is new technology all these leds, and I'm sure there are no federal agencies in china inspecting the potential dangers to human health over lights being made and shipped to the US. I feel like I need a welders mask to be around these things.

In the reflection in the third picture you can see the 4 blue lights. They are in position 7,9,17,19 if you number like you would read.

I would not look straight into it. Especially if it has ir/uv in it. No lights are good to look at for too long.

i dont think so. Its the same effect you got when i put like a pencil in front of a simple RGB Strip, instead of one mixed colour at the wall i then can see the R G and B because instead of blending 1 or more Colors gets blocked by the object. For that physics experiment you use a slit at the size of a wavelength and a single Point source of light...did you really use really use ur fingers?

I'd say it very much looks like chips bonded directly on a board. What makes you say otherwise? I'm not saying that you are wrong or right, or that I am - I'd just like to hear your reasoning

Actually there is a lot of ways to tell a COB from an SMD array but the obvious reasons to me here are that COBs are not made from different color chips, the dies are too large, the chips are way too far apart and are not uniformly covered by a phosphor coating. Plus they're mounted on metal, not ceramic/PCB as far as I can tell. I see lots of people confusing these 2 techs on RIU and other sites, plus the merchants on Alibaba/EBay don't help the situation by flat out lying about which is which. Here's a look at what was inside. The reflectors are plastic, with plastic 'glass'.

There are one of these for each of the 4 'lights' whatever each one is called. Cluster?

certainly looks like the bud boss 150 to me.

Got any links? I find all sorts of shit on google, but nothing relating to lights or growing. If I put LED in the search nothing looks remotely like this light.
