So I am growing 2 plants DWC in a 4 by 4 grow tent in my garage. I also have the same tent setup in my bedroom for drying. The issue I’m having is controlling the temps in the tent that’s in the garage. Im still new to growing and not sure if the heat is causing the leaves to look diseased of if there is a co2 issue because the same air gets filtered out and most likely back in. And I don’t monitor co2. And the second problem I’m having is that in my room tent and I had a plant harvested and drying on a multi level drying fabric drying rack. After first day the smell was great and then started so smell grassy. Not sure what happened. Any info helps. Thanks

What are your temps in the tent in the garage. I had this same issue growing in my garage but I live basically in the desert. The heat is what drove me inside, and to switch to coco. Maybe a little slower than DWC but not much, and a lot more relaxed.
On the grassy smell. Wet or dry trim? Before cutting, how long ago was it's last watering? Normally that would indicate some metabolic processes are continuing.

Temps in the garage can get up to 100. I had them growing inside but was making room too hot. I am still new to growing but I did a wet trim. Right after harvest. And watering was a couple days before harvest. I’m still not sure on when to harvest so I rolled the dice. Attached is a pic of a trimmed bud.

I am gonna skip doing these Summer grows from now on. So I have a second plant that honestly I am scared to harvest. I have a picture taken today. It’s a week younger than the other plant. But looks to be darker. Can I get some eyes and info on it please.

I'm with the consensus, cut too early, it may still be OK, you just might need some Tylenol with it. It won't be as good a your next one. All those little white "hairs" should be colored and shriveled. I've had plants that throw a last push of flowers late in flower but those are just in the tips mostly.
The second one needs a few more weeks. You could try one of those arctic breeze things but that may spike your humidity.
Two to four more weeks, sorry. What's your humidity? I don't shut my lights down until I hit a canopy temp of 105. However my humidity is almost always 10%ish, except of course this year. But I digress. If you have low humidity that temp won't hurt you.

The buds look dank and super sticky…..u couldn’t ask for much better looking flowers at their current stage. Although I see some issues with a few of your leaves. Try to keep them well fed and happy (translation—keep them green) until the end.
-They still have a few weeks….and depending on the strain they could be fast finishers or wrap it up a little slower.
I do look at trichomes but mainly just because it’s fun and interesting to see them in their various stages. But for judging a plant’s ripeness, I like to see no more white pistils, the buds have went through their late stage swell, and the pistils have receded back into the calyces.
I used to be a total stickler on not chopping if there were any white pistils….but over time I’ve seen too many plants that are in a good harvest window but may be throwing off a random white pistil. I don’t worry too much about these superfluous ones but if the buds are showing more than a couple I will wait.
And despite what some may say, there is a time when the question of if the plant is ripe is a matter of preference. Some folks prefer to let their buds get even further along and simply like it that way.
But a good rule of thumb is no more (or very very few) new pistils, with all the old ones receded back into the calyces…..time things with that in mind and you should be about right. After a few harvests you can decide what’s best for your palate.
Also your dry and cure will make or break how the buds smell, taste and overall quality.
Hang the plant in a dark space with the temps at 60F and 60%rh or as close to it as possible. My last dry the coolest I could get it was 69-70f and I was able to get my rh locked in at 60% and the buds dried fine, just a little faster than I prefer. You want them to dry as slow as possible.
A good size plant with big thick buds can easily hang for 12-15 days if the conditions are decent.
My last harvest was 2 very small autos that I stunted badly as seedlings…..so they never got the chance to get very large. They dried for 8 days and I was hoping to get 10 but they were bordering on too dry.
I cut that one close because once I jarred them they were in 58-60% range…..which is still moist enough to cure properly. As of today they’ve been curing for close to 2 weeks and are really smelly….
So educate yourself, ask questions and learn as much as you can before you chop. There’s nothing worse than a jar of good looking buds that smell like hay or grass….

I appreciate the knowledge. I do have a 1 gallon jar of weed that will probably be awful. So that’s why on this second plant I want as much info as possible. I don’t think I can get my temps lower than 75 to 80 in my drying tent that’s in my room. I do not a dehumidifier or humidifier. That’s next on the list. So I have to work with what I got.
You can hang the plant whole with all the leaves still attached….that will slow down the dry a little. Hot temps and low humidity is just the opposite of what you need.
u might look into the brown paper bag in the refrigerator method….if it’s a possibility. Many have posted great results and there’s a ton of info on various threads.
Thanks for the info. I have heard of it but I have kids. The wife may not like that. Since I have you I do have another question. For the last 2 weeks I’ve seen no growth on my plant that’s close to harvest. Still tons of white pistels sticking out. Just looks like the buds are getting darker. What do you suggest.
