title says it all, have a 13 inch macbook I was repairing and my diagnosis was... the HDD is FUBAR rather than pay for the parts and labor to replace the HDD he just gave it to me but now my question is... where the heck do I find a cheap replacement drive for this thing? I don't need much memory I am a windows man and just plan to make this thing into a hackintosh for movies and maybe mobile diagnosis as this macbook is maybe 3 lb's lighter than my hefty primary laptop.

Checked amazon and not much anything, and I am always weary of ebay... that and why the heck are apple part's twice the price of their windows counterparts!? blasted steve jobs

Thanks folks.

(stonedpony if your lurking out there I wonder what pun you have this time for us.)

Yep newegg.com then search 2.5" SATA 2, those are your choices

Or

You could get a solid state drive (ssd) and get an insane performance boost. Data speeds are fucking crazy with ssd compared to the platters.

Or

You could get the hybrid drives that have about 500gb of space plus 4gb cashe.

My girls macbook has a 64gb ssd and is lighting fast.
I have a 1tb harddrive and a 128gb sandforce crucial ssd in my asus.
