Anybody try cmh lamps?

I'm comming up on time to change out my hps (400 watt ) lamps and I was thinking of switching over to cmh lamps. Has anybody tried them yet and what kind of results did you get out of them? From what I have read they have a better light spectrum and the price is comparable to standard hps lamps. The lumens are supposed to be consistant throughout the lamps lifecycle as well, compared to the degradation that occures in an HPS lamp over time.

Thanks in advance for any advice

I've used them in the past and liked them alot and the only reason I don't use them now is that I would have to use two 400 watt cmh bulbs instead of a 1000 watt mh for my veg room to cover the space needed. I also prefer to use digital ballast instead of coil and they won't work with digitals. If you have a small enough space that requires a 400 watt bulb and don't mind using a coil ballast then I'd say give them a try. The spectrum is great and plants respond well to them. I would like to add that they work best without reflector glass for full profit of the bulb. I might try them again with a vertical hanging cord for lower bud production next winter when the temps allow because they put off less heat than other h.i.d bulbs

CMH is the bulb. it would be great if they made a 600w.

I've used HPS and LED for flowering, last Nov I started using CMH. Best light I've used. All 3 setups I've run aprox 800w on a 4x4 space. (I've got a large hood 2'x2' and I run 2 - 400w.

Compared to the HPS (good horticulture grade bulb) I'd say the yield was the same with the CMH. But the buds with the CMH were smaller and denser. The hood can be closer to the canopy (without glass on the hood bottom, or the venting the 2 - 400w hps took.)
The overall lumen output is less during all segments of the CMH bulb life span, but the degrade is slower with the CMH, so lumen output gets closer over the life span of the bulbs. But the overall light spectrum is much better than the HPS which leads to more lumens in the proper absorption range. I've also noticed that during the stretch phase that the stretch is reduced using the CMH. My fav clone line is an aggressive sativa dom strain. With the HPS it would put on a 2.5 times it size stretch, and with the CMH it's just slightly less than 2.

So if you are running a 400w magnetic hps ballast you will be better off with a CMH bulb in the socket.
