Hes trying to tell you that it would be alot faster/efficient. Theres a hundred other threads already out there with this same topic, not to mention youll probably have people telling you shit that have never even grown mushies before. Look up the PF tek and go from there.

We are callin' it Shroomin' from Start to Finish
Our process has been derived from many different teks. By no means did we come up with all of this completely on our own. So, let's start with the basics.
STERILE TECHNIQUE
Our #1 enemy is contamination, so we are going to take any and all precautions necessary to avoid this. All work areas must be clean. All tools must be sterilized. Many things, require being pressure cooked. Lysol Kills mold, public enemy #1. Keep a lot of this stuff around the house. 70% ISO alcohol is also going to be needed. Oust air sanitizer is also going to be on this list, along with Rubber/Latex exam gloves. Clean all surfaces with Lysol, then wipe down work surfaces with 70% alcohol. Always wear exam gloves, cleaned with 70% alcohol when working with your project. Sterilize your needle/blade in between steps, using a lighter or alcohol lamp. Then wipe/store in folded paper towel saturated in 70% alcohol until ready to use. A GloveBox, or FlowHood is necessary for some steps.
INCUBATOR
Supplies:
Two large dark tubs
Fish tank heater (submersible kind with adjustable temp, that turns off if water runs out)
Zip-ties (As needed)
Bleach
Thermometer
1. Fill first tub with 5 inches or so of water, (may be more or less, you just have to see what works). Add a little bleach to water so it doesn't go stagnant.
2. Place fish tank heater in bottom of tub.
3. Place second tub inside the first tub. Add thermometer in second tub to monitor temp.
4. Zip-tie top tub to bottom tub to keep it down so water stays about half way up side. (As needed).
5. Let sit for a few days to make sure temp is staying around 80- 82 F before putting to use.
LC (Liquid Culture) This is a must to noc up your jars, and get great results with a quickness.
Supplies:
Spore syringe
Quart jars
Spring/Distilled water
Light karo syrup
Foil
Micropore tape
70% alcohol
Glove box or flow hood
PC
1. First prepare your lids. Drill one hole toward the side of each lid. Rinse lid well to remove all metal shavings.
2. Fill quart jar with 600 ml/cc of spring/distilled water.
3. Add 30ml/cc of light karo syrup. (Karo is easier to handle if warmed in hot water first).
4. Mix solution well.
5. Add lid and ring, tape hole with micropore tape.
6. Cover top of jars well with foil.
7. PC for 60 minutes 15psi, let cool overnight. We have seen varied PC times being used anywhere from 30min. to 90min. at 15psi. So we have settled on 60. 90 if doing with WBS.
8. Sterilize work area and all supplies being used. When noccing multiple jars remember to sterilize needle between each jar. Inject LC with 1 cc of your choice of spores.
9. Put in dark incubator, temp 80-82 F.
Growth should appear within 3- 7 days. Let this continue to grow till you have a nice size blob. Now that you have an LC, you need something to spawn it to. We use WBS.
WBS Jars
Supplies:
Quart Jars
Wild Bird Seed (Pennington at Wally World)
Any tub/bucket or container for soaking seed. Preferably one with a lid. We use a 20qrt sterilite tub, we always happen to have a few around....
Tyvek ( if living in the US, you can get this for free at the Post Office, just look for the rack with the change of address thingie, along with various envelopes. Amongst the envelopes you will find the tyvek ones. They are free so help yourself to as many as you want. We have heard you can also go to their website, and have them delivered for free also, as long as you are in the states.)

LC
Glove Box or flow hood
1. Measure out desired amount of birdseed. Dependent on how many jars you want to prepare, fill each jar with dry seed to about ¾ of the way full. Put seed in container, we use a 20 quart tub.
2. Rinse seed in hot water and remove all floaters and sunflower seeds. Once water runs clear, fill till seeds are covered.
3. Cover and place container/tub in dark place for 18- 24 hours.
4. While seeds are soaking, drill three holes in lids to be used later.
5. After soaking, rinse seeds again till water runs clear. Now they are ready to simmer.
6. Simmer, do not boil, for 15- 20 minutes. Stirring constantly, make sure seeds are not popping. If you see seeds popping, remove from heat immediately.
7. Drain seeds in colander, place seeds back into container/20qrt tub. Dry with paper towels, by wrapping hand with the paper towel and sifting thru the seeds. Continue doing this till the towel shows little, to no moisture.
8. Fill quart jars ¾ of the way full with seed.
9. Place lid with holes on top, then tyvek, then ring. Twist ring on tight.
(Remember: Lid, Tyvek, Ring)
10. PC for 90 minutes, 15 PSI.
11. Let jars cool overnight.
12. Clean/sterilize work area.
13. Sterilize needle with flame till red hot, wipe with alcohol to cool, suck up as much myc in LC as possible. Tape needle hole in LC lid. Shake syringe well.
14. Inject 1 to 1 ½ cc of LC solution into each WBS jar, we try inject half in the middle, and the other half down a side. Remember to sterilize needle in between jars.
15. Cover needle hole with micropore tape and place in incubator. Temp 80- 82 F. (Growth should appear within 24- 48 hours)
16. At 30% colonized, shake jars well. ONLY ONCE during this whole process will you shake the jars, to distribute colonized seeds throughout the jar and speed up the process.
17. Once 100% colonized, wait a few more days (3-7.) To make sure middle is colonized as well, and now you're ready for the next step.
SPAWNING COLONIZED JARS TO SUBSTRATE
(All measurements given are for 1 six quart tub)
Supplies:
Coco Coir
Spent Coffee Grounds(1/4 cup)
Large Pot (not the smoking kind)
Pot (The smoking kind)
Another large pot or bowl, this container must have lid
Gallon size ziplock bags
Vermiculite
6 quart tubs (shoebox size, $1.00 Walley World)
Foil
Micropore tape
Gorilla Tape (This is a must, NOT duct tape)
PC (optional)
1. Boil water in large pot.
2. Place approximately ¼ brick coco coir large container/ second pot.
3. Slowly add boiling water to container/ bowl with coir to field capacity. (Coir will expand about 10 times its original size once water is added).
4. Mix well, cover with lid.
5. While this is cooling, tape up the sides of your 6 quart tub with gorilla tape. (tape from ridge of tub to bottom.)
6. Now it's time to smoke your pot while waiting for the coir to finish cooling.
7. Clean/sterilize work area.
8. Once cool add coffee grounds and mix with sterile spoon.
9. Shake your fully colonized jar till clumps are all broken up, pour contents into gallon size bag.
10. Add 1 quart jar coir/coffee mixture to same gallon size bag.
11. Seal bag, mix well by kneading bag gently till myc/ seed is spread evenly throughout coir/ coffee mix.
12. Layer bottom of 6 quart with ½ to 1 inch of vermiculite.
13. Empty all contents of gallon bag into 6 quart, on top of verm, in an even layer. Do not pack it down, light and fluffy is the idea.
14. Foil the top of the 6 quart tub, and poke holes in foil. Cover holes with micropore tape.
15. Place in incubator. Temp 80- 82 F.
Once fully colonized, allow to incubate for one additional week. If your substrate is not fully colonized your risk of contam is much greater, also it will take longer to pin & fruit.
Average spawn run is 10-14 days.
CASING LAYER
(All measurements given are for 1 six quart tub)
Supplies:
Verm (1 cup)
Spagnum Peat Moss (1 cup)
Oyster Shells (1/8 cup)
Lime (2-3 tsp)
Large Pot
Container or pot with lid
1. Boil water in large pot.
2. Place 1 cup verm, and 1 cup peat moss into another container/pot.
3. Add 2-3 tsp lime.
4. Add 1/8 cup oyster shells. (Dig to bottom of bag to get shells so powder and crushed shells are gotten.)
5. Mix ingredients.
6. Add Boiling water slowly to this container till field capacity and mix well.
7. Cover and let cool till room temp. Sterilize work area while cooling.
8. Once cool, add ¼ inch layer on top of colonized substrate. (Squeeze excess water out of casing mixture before layering it on sub.)
9. YOU WANT THE CASING TO BE LIGHT AND FLUFFY, NOT PRESSED DOWN.
10. Mist casing well, cover with a second 6 quart tub, (dub tub), and move to fruiting chamber. Temp should now be 70- 72 F (10 degrees cooler than IC temp.)
FRUITING CHAMBERS Martha the "Shroomin" way
Supplies:
Sterilite/Rubbermaid Tubs
Gorilla Tape
There are several tried and true methods of setting up Fruiting chambers. We currently use the Dub Tub, and Monotub type setups. We have also used the ShotGun type, with success.
1. If doing the Dub Tub method all you do is place one tub on top of the other, creating a bigger chamber for your mushies to stretch upward.
2. Remember to tape the bottom portion of the bottom tub, to keep out light.
3. For the monotub setup, you will tape a portion of the bottom/sides. If lid is not clear, cut out large portion and cover with saran wrap.
FRUITING TIPS
1. Mist casing well twice a day. (once in morning, once in evening.)
2. Fan often.
3. 12 hours light, 12 hours dark every day.
4. Humidity should be around 90% plus, although ours stays at 70% and is just fine.
5. Pick when most veils have torn.
DEHYDRATOR
Supplies:
One tub (18- 20 gallon)
One roll window screen
1x2's (wood)
Staples
Stapler
Fan
Duct Tape
Hammer
Nails
Crate (Optional)
1. Cut two holes/slits in tub, along the bottom on two sides, tape a layer of screen over slits on the inside to cover holes.
2. Make racks using the 1x2's and staple screen across them. The racks will vary in size according to the size of tub used.
3. Cut round hole in lid, big enough for fan blade.
4. Mount fan onto lid, airflow should be going into the tub.
MAKING A PRINT
Supplies
Foil
Alcohol
Scalpel or blade
Mushroom
Polyfil
Small Tupperware
Glovebox
This is to be done inside glovebox, or in front of a flowhood.
1. Take small Tupperware, cut hole in bottom, fill hole with polyfil.
2. Cut cap off mushroom with flame sterilized scalpel or blade (cut as close to cap as possible so no stem).
3. Cut square of foil, wipe down with alcohol, and let dry.
4. Place mushroom cap onto foil (gill side down).
5. Cover mushroom with Tupperware and let sit 24 hours.
6. Wipe foil down again (area of foil that's sticking out from under Tupperware).
7. Remove cap, fold foil in half and fold in the edges. Tape these edges down. Place in baggie, store in clean, dry place.
8. Dry mushroom cap in dehydrator.
SCRAPING DUNKING
Supplies
Fork
Tub and lid (same size as sub works fine)
Water
Two coffee cups/shot glass', or small bowls etc....
1. After all mushrooms have been picked, scrape sub with a fork to remove casing and any pins that are too small to pick.
2. Carefully flip sub over and scrape verm off the bottom of sub.
3. Check all side, top and bottom to make sure there are no pins left, and no contams.
4. Place sub in clean tub and fill with water (enough to cover sub).
5. Place two coffee cups on sub to hold it down in the water.
6. Place lid on tub and set in dark area for 24 hours.
7. Let sub drain for 30- 60 minutes, recase, and put back into the Fruiting Chamber.
