Was in the paper this morning and to me it appears like they all have no dirt on them or anything. Like they all just bathed and got on new clothes for this shot.

A lot of you will call me crazy but I mean seriously the prisoners in Guantanamo bay looked 100 times worse than these guys. This doesn't seem "real" enough for me.

There's a process Haj goes through prior to becoming a "shahid" / "martyr" which involves ritual cleansing, before the act, to "purify" and prepare the dude for his entrance to heaven. Some of the groups extend this "courtesy" to their victims, which is why they'll appear recently bathed, shaved / bald or trimmed.

That makes more sense to me then, it seems that the prisoners of US look a hell of a lot worse when we see them.

absolutely correct! and if you've died in battle (a martyr) you don't get washed no matter how dirty..you are auto-martyr.

the process is know as the "tahara".

That picture of the two "hostages" is strange. The Asian person has his shadow being cast to his right, while "hostage" on the left has his shadow being cast on his left.

I can see this being duplicated with a big green screen behind them and stage lights not set quite right.

Whoops.

It is a custom to bath the victim to have high production values for your video? I have no idea of what you mean about GITMO. No one at Gitmo is told his head is about to be sawed off, and sure enough it happens on video tape from a giant with a dull knife.

Apparently, the Japanese do not take it very seriously. Here's a collage of some of their twitter responses.

In Japan they think about death very differently it seems. About 100% believe we are in a shadow world next to a shadow world, etc. A Dream within a Dream, it's said.

I don't think anyone is laughing now.

And how did they fake the picture of the guy's head propped on his stomach, held by his own dead hands? I posted pics of peoples heads being taken. There is nothing fake about it.
