anyone ever heard of resin deposits?

Ok, I have one really nice plant. It's still pretty immature, but lately i noticed these brownish black pockets or bubbles on the stem. I think I have heard something about resin deposits that form on the stem or something along those lines. I am looking for more information on this topic..why and how it forms, etc. I haven't been able to find anything on the internet about it..so I think that either:
a. i am calling it something completely different than what it is normally referred to as.
or B. I have no idea what I am talking about.

Anyone know what i am talking about?

I'm not absolutely sure but it resembles a "scale" infestation. However, I don't even know if pot can get scale. Are these indoors?? Are they near any house plants? If that's what it is, it can be difficult to eradicate. Hopefully one of the moderators can identify it. GL HH

Ehh I dont know what it is but I have had that on my leaves. Just wiped it off and it never came back.
