I've been seeing the organic guys talk about malted barley powder for a while, and when I was looking for some pond enzyme to clear the roots from my coco I saw that a lot of it uses barley enzyme as well.
I mixed a bunch of it into a batch of used coco that I planted into. The plants starved and yellowed for a few weeks but I think that's more due to the coco being depleted after the flush at the end of the last run, runoff was reading pretty low EC. So I might try it again at the beginning of the next run. Or maybe start top dressing during this one.
Any thoughts? I brew beer and pick this stuff up at the maltsters for a buck a kilo.
