Anyone know a method for collecting the trichomes out of jars??

I have several jars with oil glands smashed and stuck to the sides...

I know cannabis is both oil and alcohol soluble, but I really don't want to shake iso alcohol in all the jars and then somehow strain it (I have a 25 micron drying screen)

I was hoping somebody had a magical method for collecting these trichomes, and if so, please share!!

Also, if you have a good hassle-free iso method, feel free to share that as well.


Being out of medicine and seeing 258,000 trichomes stuck deep in your jars is definitely the way to start a day!! :finger:

Get some everclear and put 1/4 C in each jar, cap it and shake the shit out of it. Put it somewhere warm and shake it occasionally over a day or two. All the trichs should come off the sides and dissolve. Might take longer than a day or two, and might take more than 1/4 cup. Anyway when they are all dissolved pour the solution into a small pan, let the alcohol evaporate naturally, or you can heat it carefully on an ELECTRIC stove in a double boiler. When all the alcohol has evaporated what you will have left is honey oil, or hash oil.

Somebody will probably have a better idea but I have done this and its simple.

Just of the top of my head here but maybe you could freeze the jars and use a knife to scrape the trics? Or if u smoke baccy you could rub it into the dust? Or smash the jars open then scrape it out. All i can think of right now.

any alcohol will work. doesn't take a day- maybe 2-3 minutes to dissolve all the trichs and oils. then bottoms up!!!

Using ISO, you don't have to strain anything. Pour some in a jar, shake it for a few seconds, then pour it into the next jar, shake it for a few seconds, etc. When you have washed out all the jars, you can pour the iso into a flat glass casserole and let it evaporate. The film remaining after evaporation can be scraped up and smoked like hash oil. No straining required.

freeze the jars put a nickle in it, (just like some ppl do with there grinders to collect more keef) then shake it up...The nickle or any coin really, should break loose all the thrichromes. Then you just stick your hand donw there, or use some scoop if your hand wont fit, and load them in a bowl.....just like smokin keef.

I had a feeling I'd end up using an iso method, as I mention in the OP, but using a consistent reservoir and moving from jar to jar sounds a lot easier than putting alcohol in each jar.

Kudos to you brother, and off the store for some 90% iso! (I don't know where to get 99%).

Just use enough alcohol, so it doesn't become gummy on the last jar. Then you'd just have to add more alcohol to thin it out. GL.

If you don't want to use ISO you can use Everclear.

Also try the above method using bud, cover with Everclear or ISO let it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes then pour it onto the flat glass..

Here in the midwest, you can buy 99% iso at the local pharmacy. Not nearly as nasty as the 90%.

Run your finger around inside it, as the resin collects, use the stickiness of the resin on your fingers to collect the rest. You miss a bit, but the buzz is so worth it.

I guess if you like alcohol then maybe some strong spirit would clean it out.

Warm up the jar slowly with a hairdryer or lighter. Once you think the trichs are nice and warm take a bud and use it to swab them out. It won't clean it perfectly but imp it doesn't matter because more buds going in and its gonna be easier to swab with buds than to do an ISO method. Plus you can smoke the bud right after instant gratification

Hmm heres what i do when im stuck in the situation your in, its very easy and it works for me 100% of the time i normally just use a clean paint-brush to collect the resin/thc glands off the sides of my jars although i like to use a medium thin brush to it gets all in between the corners Lol.. hope this helped
