need a white light pic, flash maybe or daylight. it will help to see those roots. that look fine to me given the light, but best off without the purple light on

What you describe and the 1st pic looks like mag deficiency but not alot of info and bad lighting

I see DWC buckets, probably root rot. Roots looks underdeveloped. Do you use any preventatives?

Chlorine is a good preventative measure. I use bleach(sodium hypochlorite) and run 1 ppm residual chlorine. In DWC I would aim for 3ppm.

Here's a dilution calculator: Chlorine dilution calculator

Probably not mag def in hydro. I bet either pH related or root rot. Maybe both.

And OP probably need to raise your lights, if you're new you're in the mentality of "pushing" things and probably are running lights to close.

@Wastei Yeah, you're right. Last week, I used 4ppm of bleach to fix my roots and everything looks good. I want to keep going to the sterile reservoir, do I have to add 3 ppm every 3 days?

It all depends on system size and plant count. If you keep temps below 25C/78F when lights are on you should be good with just adding it to everything.

A good starting measure is to simply add 3ppm to everything you add to the reservoir like res change, top off etc. Then you have created a routine, filling RO/well and then sterilize with bleach before or after adding nutes. I like to add it first so it has less things to bind to and oxidize to, but doesn't matter that much in which order.

I keep my top off and nutrient in jugs. It makes it impossible for chlorine to "evaporate", or it takes a very long time to do so.

Are you able to ph adjust water after adding bleach?
