Approximately How Long to Dry ?

I harvested on Sunday and cut each branch and trimmed the buds and hung to dry.
Im running my Inline fan in the room and Temp is at 75 degrees and the RH at 55%.

This was my first grow and im wondering approximately how long would these take to dry before i take them down and jar at this current Temp and RH?
My initial plan was to take them down 4-5 days depending on the feel and then jar them with a hygrometer and keep an eye out on them.

Id hate to screw this part up considering all the time i have invested.

7-8 days of dry
7-400 days of cure

when the buds are smokable but the stem doesnt snap because it still holds moisture....
that means it's done drying and you should start curing. (I think you want humidity down to about 10% or so)
Most people smoke/sell their shit after it's dry.... if you cure it... it can get 60% stronger.... and tastier....
The hydrometer will come in handy when you cure...it lets you know exactly when to 'burp' the jar.

you answered your own question.

dry until the outside is crispy but there is still moisture on the inside. when you jar it, the moisture will redistribute itself over the entire bud, and the outside will not be as crispy again. open jar and allow to dry. close jar and allow moisture to redistribute. repeat until there is no difference between jar open and jar closed.

it's a simple trick that is easy to learn and takes forever to master.

and just so you don't dry yours too quick, i have to say that i have never dried for anywhere close to 7-8 days, it's usually 2-6 days depending on temps and humidity. in an environment like you described, buds of average density should dry in about 3-4, perhaps less if they are more airy.

Thank you for the information, At least now i have a vague idea on how long they will be drying before i jar and cure them.
This community has been a huge help to me and i wouldn't of made it this far without the wealth of information contained within it.

I just harvested and i had 2 different places that buds were drying in, i had some drying in my cab and i had some drying in the room my cab intakes air from, the buds in my cab have been in there for about 3 days and they are crisp and the stems snap when you bend them, the buds that were in the other room were at this same point at 7 days, so air flow seems to make a lot of difference.

Good advice, and i agree with 7-8 being too long. For it to take that long, you are going to be running the risk of mould. I found generally from 3-6 depending on the size of the bud.

my buds are so dense, they are usually still pretty wet until day 5-6... I let them go to 7-8 and havent ever had mold..
even when the outsides are crispy....there's still plenty of moisture on the inside...
let the hydrometer tell you..that will tell you better than anyone on a forum can.

I use the stem to tell me... because when it's really 100% dry..the stem will snap.
if it just bends...there's still plenty of moisture in there...
but 'feelings' can lie... Hydrometers dont!!

if your stems snap after 3 days... you are doing it wrong...
the dry process is slow for a reason...
it should take about a week if you do it right.
weed dried quickly is referred to as 'radiator weed' ..and it kills the taste.
...followed by the curing.. which most people dont bother to do.

slow and steady.... patience all the way. from start to toke.

You don't want it 100% dry before curing..

Haha, soggy old briton means we grow indoors. I say soggy old briton, to you this is just a normal autumn day, but its like 28c over here at present, we don't know how to deal with this kind of heat, largely unheard of for us

Thanx guys for the information you provided. Its going well and i have them in the jar now and the humidity stabilizes at 73%.
Im going to take them out of the jar for a couple of hours to dry out just a bit more and weigh them one last time before they go back in to cure.
This has been a rewarding experience so far and i have enough bud to last me a long time.

in Washington.... the herb can hang for a month and still not be bone dry

I bag the whole plant while its hangin on a hanger for a 12 -24 hour period when I think its dry

it draws the moisture back from the stems and inner buds.... makes the buds moist again
