I have searched but I cant find anything.

I have heard of people throwing a couple of fish in hydro setups.

Talking to an old hippy that used a aquarium for his hydro / aero reservoir. He emphasized that the aquarium MUST be self sustaining BEFORE you use it to water your plants (controlled algae). With the right mix of plants and fish he said that it will control the ph, oxygen, and nutes needed for growing.

I thought it sounded cool - I mean how more organic can you get - and wanted to know if anyone has done it with success.

plants love fish water. you benefit from it two ways.

1.Fish wastes have a lot of NitrAte and phosphates in them, which makes fish water a good source for those nutrients. Plants that fruit or bloom a lot really appreciate the extra phosphates.

2. The good thing is that Fish tank water is a great natural fertilizer. It's loaded with fish droppings and plants love the mix. I have heard it said before, Gold fish water is Gold for plants.

PLUS*****you save water..shit aint cheap anymore

You can use a reservoir for fish, and then bottom-pump water/effluent out of it to feed a hydro system, and pump it back to the tank, in a cycle. Tilapia fish are choice.

Feed your fish, and your plants will be alright. This type of grow setup is typically termed aquaponics or aquaculture.

yes my friend has a 1/4 inch foam cover which floats on his aquarium and puts his net pots into the foam and they do great, i think the waste as well as the constant movement and cleaning of the roots by the fish help the plants.

aquaponics works well. thats how they have kept plants happy in southeast asia for centuries using fish populations as a fert source.

Cant seem to find photos; it would be awesome to see a full grow.
