Arduino leds should I cover them?

Hello everyone,

I have a arduino uno controlling my fans and I was wondering if during the dark period, the tiny leds on the arduino will interfere with the plant. They are not that bright its 1 small green and 1 small red. Should I enclose the arduino or could I ignore it?

Thanks for the answers.

I believe i had some delays in finishing a crop because a blue led was flashing on an esp32 I've got running a temperature controlled heat mat. For propagation. Led flashed every second when transmitting data on mqtt for a few weeks before i realised. Damn sure they dragged their heels all through that. My bad. I would advise covering lights.

You can put some electrical tape over them. I actually popped the LED's out of all my temp/humidity monitors permanently.

On an arduino, it looks like you can just scratch out the trace between the resistor and led with a knife.

I covered mine before I relocated them to the outside of the tent. Painter's tape works awesome for this. Just rip off a piece small enough to cover the LEDs, and stick it. You might want two layers. The painters tape comes off easily, and leaves no residue.

I've since removed the boards from the tents, leaving only sensors behind. Now my prototype stuff is all fixed to plywood boards, and I screw the boards to the floor joists above the tents in the basement.
