Are fan leaves supposed to die after 5 weeks of flowering????

This plants are in their 5th week of flowering and 3 days ago i had an issue where 85% of all the fan leaves starting yellowing and spotting... now all those leaves are almost completely dead, curled up and crispy, but the bud and the bud leaves seem ok, they are green and perky and the buds look great...

is this normal or is this the sign of something real bad? i shall try to post some picture later people.

A lot of fan leaves fall off as flowering goes along, especially if you do a flush. If you're still getting good new growth it probably isn't too big of an issue. 85% is a lot of loss though. I usually have 1/3 to half the leaves going yellow around that time.

sum plants start shedding leaves early sum late sum dont do it at all

it is my thery that fans connected to stalks stems and branches and supply energy to whut its connected to only
and it hink they are only needed for plant growth veg - and for stretch cycle after that not needed and sum discard
never bother leaves around buds that get frosty and single leaves sticking out of buds

i have experimented side by side removal at diff stages of flower so no gain or loss

I have the same, although not 85% but the under 25%. I gave some extra N and increased the nutrients a bit and it seems that its not getting worse.
Maybe 1 or 2 times some extra N in your water and see if it stops?
Got it once by my inside grow and that was also lack of nutrients. (But that was more than yellow leafs hehehe)

i mean the buds look pretty good and they are starting to swell!!! i guess if it was a big deficiency it'd be too late to fix this ;late in flowering?

I cut off 30-40 yellow/yellowing leaves and now the rest are green,it depends on the plant,if it has enough space for bud formation w/o the blockage from fan leaves then the expectation of losing a lot of leaves are slim

i had the same problem but at 3 weeks into flower , that was last week ,quite allot of leaves turning yellow low down ,dropping off ? i was getting a bit worried as quite a few was dropping off quite fast ,then i read a post about upping the feed as the plant is wanting more as its taking what it needs from the leaves ,so i upped the feed that bit more .it seems to have worked a treat,leaves arnt yellowing anymore ?
