I was wondering if these buds are about to start swelling, its my 1st grow and i have 2 plants (1 & 1/2m tall each). I am growing them under a 125W CFL. I have attached 2 pictures

They're going to swell a little but not dense like they would under more watts of CFL's, or HID lights, or the sun

If you can, give them some sunlight! it'll help them get fatter buds. Only growing with CFL's makes for fluffy, light buds. Speaking from experience from 1st grow. Growing under the sun now, and my clone of a plant from my 1st grow is swelling up FAST out there and its only 3 weeks into flowering. The mother of the clone never got close to this under CFL's

dude you have a long way to go, add more side lites. More light more buds spots.i have a plant similar looking to yours. its taking forever.my plants are at end of week 13 of flowering buds now swelling since last week! Once plant stops growing new bud spots then the magic begins! Good luck!

YES. Everything everyone else said. I call this the pre-flower state not he bud state. Long way left, more light. They look good

yes they look normal for about 3 days into 12/12, if that is where u are at. 125 watts is enough for 2 plants but adding more cfls would make ur plants happier.

Well the light creates no heat at all because its a cfl. The room tempreture its usually about 20°c but do you think it would help by putting a little electric heater in there to keep the room warm but oviously not leave it on just keep topping it up. Im in all day so i can keep switching it on and off or just get a timer. Let me know what you think napa23

I mean the light temperature, not the temp of the room. Is your CFL soft white (2700K) or daylight (6500K)? Also your room temp isn't necessarily the temp your plants are feeling. Measure it at the top of your plants.

I think you're supposed to use the 2700k for flowering. Thats what i've been told many times before. I have a mix of both the 2700k and the 6500k for flowering.

Yes you are right, Jakey needs to check out the cfl section and do some reading... You should be flowering with 2700k cfl's and cfl's do put off heat btw...

I think he ment 3 weeks into 12/12 aswell..

man do what im going to do when i start flowering. get atleast a 150 watt hps light bulb and a light socket converter. thats the cheapst way to go and have some decent bud at the same time. i know from research. good luck.

You might have a source of light pollution . If you hours of darkness aren't, the flowering hormones won't be produced by the plant. Ensure your growing setup gets absolutely dark.

Your plants will grow and you will get some good, smoke-able herb; but CFL's just will never grow bud like you see in the pictures.

Another thing you can do in a pinch is go down to the home depot or lowes and pick up one of the those HPS type flood lights (the kind you mount on your house). They're made to be hard-wired into the house electrical system of course, but just buy yourself an new electrical cord and attach it yourself.

Well ive got some good news i have just bought myself a euro grow light with 400W venture halide lamp and it cost me £84.99. Somebody suggested going to the home depot but the problem is i live in the uk. Hopefully this should sort my problem out
