Are my plants growing too slow?

I've seen some other grow journals and with the same strains and mines seem smaller at the same day.

I'm growing under 300w mars hydro on Mill's DNA soil+coco

From sowing until today:
Mexican Airlines day 21



Crystal Meth Day 21 although it sprouted 1-2 days later


Tutankhamn Day 15

You're counting the days from planting the seed? That's not bad, then. Do you know how many days since they actually sprouted?

Yes for example, Mexican Airlines was sowed on day 1 and popped out of the soil on day 3, lost the shell on day 4.

Those are a little smaller for day 21 but then again you're only running one 300w. I run two 600w 24 hours during veg using only coco coir. Once you start giving the right dosages of CalMag they should start growin like a wild fire, also depends on where your seeds are from

I've also had seeds that sprouted first and started growing slower than the others and then end up growing faster in the long run. Every little detail effects it

So apparently I should count from when they sprout?

If so then the Mexican Airlines is 17 days
CM is 16 days
And Tutankhamon is 8 days

Given that, I'd say they're on the lower end of average. Better light and some mild nutes will probably provoke some rapid growth. Plants have a tendency to do that; they pop out of the ground and look all robust and everything for a few days, and then they sort of pause while they get ready for the next growth stage. My hunch is the first two are right on the edge of getting ready to take off, and when you start giving them "big girl" lights and nutes, they'll be on their way. The third one won't be far behind.

When do you think I should start with the nutes?
They are growing on Mill's DNA soil+coco which I was told was one of the best soils and that no nutrients are required for a month. I also have the Mill's DNA nute line.

Oh, is that a preloaded soil? In that case, I couldn't give a trustworthy answer. That's one of the reasons I hate prefertilized soils - I want a clean slate, and complete control of exactly what nutrients get added, how much gets added, and when they get added. If those were my plants, and I were growing in pure coco, I'd be giving them quarter strength nutes by now, and half strength within a couple of feedings.

If your soil is preloaded, then I don't know what to tell you. Someone else who's familiar with that soil and LED lighting would be better qualified to tell you what to do next. I've seen the Mars LED lights, but never used one. I just know that in my setup, right around now is when I would put those plants under a 400W MH and start giving them nutes. I should just limit my response to saying that if those were my plants, given the time range you're talking about, I would like my plants to maybe be slightly larger, but not alarmed if they weren't. I really shouldn't get into advising on where to go next with the setup you're using - I mean, it's probably perfectly fine; I just have no experience with that combination of lights and grow medium.

I think they are going pretty slow. But you will see them take off soon

That MARS light is it advertised as 300w? as they advertise potential wattage of the diode, example they take 3w diode and multiply them by number of diodes in the cluster, but since if you actually ran that 3w diode at 3w, it would burn out in no time at all, so they restrict the diode to 5% less than full potential. So take 5% off your 300w MARS light and that should give a rough actual wattage.

look at the amount of each nutrient provided on the bag, when I first started in coco I ran into major nitrogen issues and damaged half my plants. And I agree if you're choosing to use coco I would just stick with pure coco then you have control & know almost exactly what deficiencies you're getting

Day 25 using pure coco and CalMag. (Ran under a 600w hps)

Patience. The beginning stages are a lazy mans dream. Don't get caught up in watching the second hand on a clock.

By the way, I got it wrong, it is not coco but soil+cork

Update, seems like the Mexican Airlines is showing sex, it seems to be a female. From yesterday until today actually it seems like it grew quite a lot!

So seems like this Mexican airplane is taking off.

Why are you growing a strain called "crystal meth"? These types of names aren't what the industry needs, there are hundreds of strains to chose from..

I'm growing my own strain named Hiroshima. I would say that's just as bad

Nice man, by the way, could it be that the slow growth has to do with the fact that I transferred the seedlings to the final pot when they were about 5 days old?
