It could be staining from your nutes, your water temp might be too warm (65F seems to be the ideal), and it looks like light can get through your tote....light kills roots.

Good luck

Sides and bottom too?
I'd say cover every sq mm of your buckets with a double layer of duct tape.
Better yet a 10gal food grade black plastic bucket with a 6in net pot, cost like maybe $15.00

I agree with Hugo, probably just stained. Plants look healthy and the roots look nice and white above the water line. You could run some H2O2 in the res for piece of mind just in case....

I think more than just the lite was the air pump on in pic if ya you need lot more air bigger pump
what nutrients you using ?
water temp to high ? what kind of water DWC best to use ro water and add calmag
I never beat root rot best thing i found out to keep plant alive was to transplant it to a good soil
and correct the problems and start over

Don't put into dirt just yet. Black out your container with alum. foil or black plastic. Your roots are rotting from high temps/lack of oxygen and your plants do look sickly as result. You'll have to lower the water temp in your bucket as mentioned and either get h202 or calcium base chlorine product (like for shocking swimming pools, you can buy at walmart type stores and there are a few writes up here on RIU). Also you will have to use non organic fertilizers without any of the organic base additives i.e. Sweet or Bud candy. The organic sugars give bad bacteria fuel. If you can't lower the water temp w/ a homemade water cooler or store bought one, then get the calcium chloride and follow instructions from write up and hope you can get through this crop but temps will have to come down or you will, like above mentions, you'll have to go with soil. (I've used the calcium chloride successfully but I can't remember the name of the write up but it was here on RIU). Basic the calcium chloride is bleach and it will kill the pathogens in the water but may have negative effects, you'll have to do the research but it's a start.

P.S. The more air pumps you have the higher the water temps will be. Air pumps=heat.

less heat, more air, and something like Hydrogaurd to eat all the bad bacteria away, and from keeping it from comiing back too.

Don't really know about all that. But you could always transplant(net and all) into a homemade hempy bucket and use the same nutes. If you do probably gonna shock the plant for a sec. Plants look great tho so I agree they could just be stained. Hempy is so much easier than hydro too. Plenty of info out there to get you going cheap, simp and easy.

Edit: on second thought you could just use the container you got now and just drill a hole 2" from the bottom on side and mix up some perlite/vermiculite 80/20 and drop it in the container you have then drop net pops in it and wouldn't cost hardly anything. Arrange your mix around the pots. You don't need the top. They call it passive hydro but it is so much simpler. Still need to PH properly as well. Feed water or feed water water. Some water every 2 or 3 days, I do it when the medium feels dry and the container light.

throw that garbage away, and get something light tight. I can see light thru your lid in pic1, instant root rot.

draw all incoming cool air in so it flows against the water res as well, if u cant get a chiller of some kind running.

Dont try to grow weed as cheap as possible, or thinking "Ill get that when I can afford it/need it"

Get the proper gear, lay out a plan, keep is simple.....

also get a few ice packs and a small bucket... put you air pump into a bucket on top of the ice pack (so the pump draws chilled air in) rotate as needed....

If its nice n wintery outside, get a long ass tube and mount it in a window or something similar.... pump COLD ait into your res, not room temp+

Today I bought a new heavy duty black tote for the reservoir and real net pots instead of homemade pots and I got a bigger pump so plenty mor bubbles I transplanted the plants into the new net pots and into the new Dearborn I'm hoping they make it. They'll probably get very shocked. I learned the hard way of trying to get by cheap during this grow

I have one of these and it worked well. Kind of a pain to clean the drip ring several times a week and used lots more nutes than hempy. Probably good for up to 2 plants. I used it once and went back to hempy.

Bro I'm going to give you a piece of advice buy some hydroguard. And use 3 to 5 ml per gallon , also go to Walmart and buy a black tote if your plants are still in vegg they will recover just going to add some time to your grow but act fast . You will be fine
