Are these lights even better?

My dad recently bought one just like this that is now installed outside and he was really excited about it saying it's only 50 watts lol. I have a feeling this is better than CFL's so I'm practically tempted to take the outside one too but he will definitely notice. So how are these lights? the red one is 1600 lumens, 30 w 120 v

Those are high pressure sodium lights, but they aren't really for growing. They don't carry the full spectrum of lighting like most grow lamps do. They also put off a LOT of heat so they really aren't very useful for growing

REALLY?! I've never seen an LED work lamp like that. That's pretty interesting. But even still, it's snap on brand, meaning it's for a workshop. So it's putting out 1600 lumens of light, but in what spectrum? That's exactly it. Hps, led, or mh grow lights have multiple spectrums made specifically to optimize growth. With a workshop light, they're not worried about spectrum, it's all about brightness.

You can probably grow your plants under the light but I doubt your going to get a very great yield out of it

What you've got there is called square eggs. They aren't as high efficiency as bridgelux vero and cree cxa round eggs.

DIY builds using fried eggs also generally run their eggs at a lower current for greater efficiency, which means a greater startup cost (more eggs). Also, DIY builds tend to have much bigger and badder heatsinks...

No one likes scrambled eggs....
