Ashcatcher help

I bought this ashcatcher for my bong 18.8 m joint size equelvant for my bong but do i need a downstem or diffuser for my ashcatcher or can i just attach the bowl to the a/c with and without water?

You need a downstem for that or else the ash will go into the bong defeating the purpose of the ASH catcher
It is going to be tough to find the right size downstem length wise
That is why I always buy ash catchers that come with the downstem preferably diffused

edit: and yes you need water, that is how the ash gets caught in the ash catcher instead of in the bong

cant i just add a little water in that ash catcher and put the bowl on top of it and the ashes will just catch in the water

yes that should work as long as it isn't too long for the ash catcher

But it isnt a precooler meaning it wouldnt need a downstem or diffuser since its just a ordinary Ashcatcher right? just put water in it

I don't think that will fit in the top, I think it is 29.2 and you have an 18.8 female end on the ash catcher
Pre cooler usually have the down stem built in so that you don't have to add a bowl on it
I hate those because you can't tap out the bowl

my ashcatcher is small and the problem is that the water will splash back up to where the weed is at the end of the hit and get it all wet what do i do to fix this?
