I C E does go after counterfeitted goods because these goods are smuggled into the US, they pay no tarrifs. it's an infringement of intelectual property laws in the US, one of the big wealth builders in the US, and it IS a matter of national security because some of these counterfitted goods are sometimes produced with cheap and dangerous raw materials.

that's one of the tasks I C E is charged with. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Customs involves making sure only products that pay the due tariffs, products that are allowed to be sold in the US make it into the US.

national security doesn't just mean swarms of enemy fighter planes coming in under radar to rain fire on the US, or a bunch of arabs with dubious flight experience flying fully loaded 757's into buildings.
