Auto flower new growth close to harvest

I have a northern lights x big bud autoflower that has been stunted for a while but it finally made it through. I have another auto lady in the same room which I am trying to finish ASAP. I was reading and found out that if turn down the light cycle on an auto it will trick it into thinking its winter and hurry to finish her flowers. Since I've turned down the light from 20-4 to 16-8 over a 2 weeks period. Not sure if that was the best idea now. I was getting ready to harvest my northern and noticed new bud formations growing. I figure it was from the light cycle change. Not sure if its a bad sign and i should harvest ASAP as it have been growing for 90 days and it should of been done at 70 days. You can see in the pic new formation on the left side.
Will the new formation affect the rest of the bud yield. Should I pull it now?

The new buds are because the plant is still going. The 70 days the breeder said is not an accurate reflection of actual finishing times most strains IME need three full months from seed to fully mature. The NL auto I grew took the full 3.

So you could pull it now but I would not. I would let the plant finish, there are new capels n pistils and it's caylexes were still flat rather than folded, so it doesn't look done to me. Are the buds hard? Check out the "is it done" thread over in the harvesting and curing section.

Not sure where you read that it will trick them into thinking it is winter if you switch the light cycles. This is true for reg plants but for autos it is best to keep them on a steady 20/4 or 18/6. Changing the light cycle can cause massive stress and more for autos. Hopefully this helps you in the future .

i've grown several nl autos and they all have finished somewhere in the 80 day range. i would let it finish to your taste. GL

this happens with almost all strains, hence the reason why everyone is always running around asking when to harvest, theres really no right or wrong answer on this other then, let it go until you feel ready and from there learn from mistakes and experiences, new growth usually indicated that the plant is not done flowering but this is not always the case, sometimes sativas tend to foxtail really late in flower when most of the buds are done, just my opinion, good luck bro

ok i gotta ask why would you try and trick a plant thats already flowering into flowering just wondering

and just on a side note you can clip the buds that are finished and the one's that still have time left will continue to finish i like them really early strictly head high/creative day time get lost in your work and the almost all amber of a really late harvest nite nite time smoke/ sit on the couch for 30 mins and fall into sweet slumber so i sometimes clip a nug or two from the side branches early and let the mains finish if you leave a few buds on the root mass and continue to flower you might get lucky and it pollinate itself fem seeds whoot whoot
