Auto Grow Time????

I've seen the banks advertising 6-8 weeks but I know damn well I'm not that good yet or ever will be! Question I'm wanting to know is can I let my autos grow longer than 12 weeks? Couldn't they be let to just run their course and when showing signs of fall, then harvest??? Silly to most but I'm still pretty green!:mrgreen:

Auto strains are all in part cannabis ruderalis. Ruderalis is indigenous to northern colder climates it's origins lead back to the Russia. The season for growing is very short so for procreation the life cycle of the plant is shortened quite a bit. Pure ruderalis much like hemp grade cannabis plants have very little THC value so they were never really sought out as recreational or medicinal plants. But, then some bright eyed bushy tailed cannabis geneticist decided to make hybrids using ruderalis and either Indicas and/or Sativas. The resulting strains are much higher in THC potency than their ruderalis parents. But maintain the short life cycle trait.

Whew! That was lot of typing just to say that because of the fact that autos will finish in pretty much any light cycle a grower may have little or no control over life cycle timing. I say MAY because personally I have not yet grown an auto and I don't want to make definite statements.

BTW...how good or bad any gardener may think themselves to be...once a plant is flowering it is going to live as long as it lives. If that is 6 weeks or 8 weeks is up to genetics and mother nature. Unless of course someone kills it.
