The time has finally come to start a grow journal of my own. This is my first grow so I welcome any advice or criticism you have to offer.

I'm just growing one plant as this first grow is more about learning and gaining experience.
It's been six days since I put the seed into wet tissue paper. Two days later it was dropped into soil and have been on 20/4 since then. Where I dropped the seed into the soil was a mixture of All-Mix and seedling compost as I'd read that All-Mix can be too harsh on seedlings. Two days in the soil and she popped (Day 1, right?).
Day 2
Day 3 (today)
Temp has been 19-27C, RH 38-63%, the light is 8 inches away. I've been watering with dechlorinated water after the dark period each day with a misting that damps the top of the soil. 24 hours later the top of the soil is bone dry, and only slightly damp 2 inches beneath the surface. I've only just got myself a pH pen and I've been giving 7.5pH. The misting later today will be adjusted to 6.5 I'm thinking.
Question:
Should I be allowing the top of the soil to get so dry? She looks healthy to me but maybe I could be making her life a little easier?
