The picture above is from five days ago, I asked whether I should start LSTing and the consensus was that I could... but it would be better to wait a week. I decided to, instead, feed it its first dose of veg nutes and see what happens.
This is what happened. She exploded and started to develop a severe curling problem (also some twisting). You can see a little bit of the aftermath in some of the bigger fan leaves. I had had this problem for a long time and tried everything else (light is super high, less direct fan, watered it more often than the other) and was left with one option: Flush (torn leaf is user error from the flush). It seems to have worked (I think this plant is just in a constant bitchy temperamental mood too), my pH down may have been reacting improperly with my Cal-Mag... but whatever. On to LST...
This is the part that I am super proud of. Filled a couple of 2 liter pop containers, hard tying string to the cap area. I proceeded by wrapping rubber coated wire as an anchor/ballast (lower part) and near the tip, I think 2 or 3 nodes down. I then looped the string around the rubber coated wire and just wrapped the string around the cap area a few times. Friction holds it in place and it's SUPER easy to tighten and loosen because you aren't actually tying or untying anything.
The other plant has had notable growth, but is comparatively stunted. Nothing of note there.
Here is my question: Each of the lighter yellow, small, new growth areas can become a cola right? Or should I only be looking at the ones with hairs? Having only two plants, I can micro-manage my growth down to every single cola... I'm aiming for perfection. Any recommendations regarding micro-managing LST would be greatly appreciated, 2'x2.5' grow area & a 150w LED (really only 100w at max) that has done very well for me so far... I actually had to raise it over 12" because of some presumed light burn.
Edit: I would put this girl at 20 days from sprout... 22-23 from germ.
