I just found a bulk supplier of organic soil amendments right in my hometown. I just ordered 2 cubic yards of mushroom compost from them for $35 a yard, which is WAAAY cheaper than buying 1.5 cubic feet of any amendment from a grow shop for $20 to $30. They gave me a product list and it has dozens of goodies for awesome prices! They will even mix any receipe I have for them and bag it for me. I'm going to have them make me a custom blended compost tea mix for veg and for bloom, and I'm also going to order all my mulch there also.
There's another guy in town, right on a main road, that has a sign out front that says "#1 MENDO GOLD SUPER SOIL". A pretty outrageous claim. I went and checked it out and it's a bunch of clay, pumice, pine needles, and dust. It looked like crap, just like the houseplants he was growing out of it. I got a peek in his backyard and there was a HUGE hole excavated there, so I wonder where he gets his fillers from
His crappy soil is $55 a yard!
