Bag Seed

A while back I was running some Barney's Farm Vanilla Kush next to some Green House Seeds Super Lemon Haze. I had hurt my back pretty bad and was laid up for almost a week. During that time the Vanilla Kush had matured to the point of harvest, but I wasn't able to get in there to do it, so the Vanilla Kush ended up going into degradation and threw off a couple of nanners that blew a little bit of pollen. The only thing hit in the room was the adjacent Super Lemon Haze and my trimmer found four seeds...

Now I have always heard that you shouldn't bother with such seeds because of the high chance of getting hermies. Not to mention the fact that both parents came from breeders known for having hermie problems in some of their strains. My trimmer, his brother and another friend told me not to bother running the seeds. They told me they would pretty much hermie for sure...

I have run against the grain my entire life, so being told not to do something is like encouraging me to do it... And with everyone else so negative, I just had to try it. Plus when I was a kid my friends brother grew bag seed all of the time and he grew some good smoke for back in the day, and I'm pretty sure most of that stuff came from hermies. He never had a problem that I knew of. So I gave it a try...

I call her SLO Lemonade. I ran 12 of them and not a hermie in sight... Clones well too.

Anyone else run bag seed? And if so what were your results. I really just want to know if I got lucky and if this is something I should try again should the opportunity present itself?

Were both parent plants fem seed? If so was the offspring fems to? Sounds like you're hermie in question was from being stressed, correct? Seeds should be fems. Sounds similar to how Soma makes fem seeds. He flowers them past their prime so they start throwing out some sacs.

Yes, both parents came from feminized seed. The hermie came past the point of harvest so, yes it was a stress hermie. I can see how that would be different from a hermie during the normal flowering cycle. Wasn't aware that this was a breeding technique, something to keep in mind for the future...

I've run afew bag seeds off of hermie plants and I tossed em outside one year and they all came back female aswell..dunno if I got lucky but I was 3/3 ..I've also assumed if they seed then the offspring will aswell..as for trying it again..I may, but I will/would continue to be extra cautious throughout grow.
