^^^^exactly. And here's some advice if you ph meter is anything like mine a blue lad it takes a minutes for the reading to stabilize is not like the ppm meter where it gives you an instant reading. Mine usally takes about 3 minutes to come to a final reading. The way i know is good is of it stays on that number for more then 30 seconds without changing our sometimes it will flash back and forth from say 6.0 and 6.1 when it finally rest is good. It might not seem important but for the first month of having my meteri wasn't letting reach the true reading

May I add to this? I should experiment a little, but what about stabilizing PH? I have seen some posts that would indicate that it may be best to add nutes and then PH, but let it sit for an hour or so then check PH again..

Any thoughts?

I add my nutes , let sit 30 min - 1 hour adjust PH ... same thing let ph adjustment sit 30 min , recheck adjust to where I want it . Patience . I must say ... I hate adding PPM`s with poor up and down ph management .

It also depends on what your using soil etc etc. I'm using ffof and my ph going in never matters its always 5.5 on run off that's how ffof works. When it gets wet it goes to 5.5 as it dries it slowly goes back up to 6.5 I've tested runoff with my regular ph meter and with a soil meter to check this. I read a post recently staying that it allows the plants to get a broadband of nutrients as they uptake different nutes at different ph levels. Of course I can't guarantee that's what it really does but imo it makes sense to me.

Usually you do it after, however i have seen techniques of doing it before. If you use exactly the same variabiles (water, nutes quantity). For example if after adding nutes PH goes up 2 points each time you add them you can treat the water to go down 2 points before adding the nutes so when the nutes are added the ph will stabilize at +2 points @7 or whatever you want it.
