Barney's Little Cheese Auto Q

Hi all,

Got talked into an auto for my first "real" grow, probably for the best this late in the year since I plan to do the grow "Outside" (I have a fully enclosed rear deck that is enclosed with acrylic panels and contains my hot tub). If I'm venting it in the spring/summer/fall it stays around 85. In winter if I shut it up relatively tight it doesn't go lower than 60 at night so I should be golden. The question is if it's a "little" cheese how small a pot will I get away with or should I go 5 gallon? I'm using a solid soil, ffof isn't available here. Nutes are no issue and I don't expect temp or light to be a problem either. Worst case I can add cfl's and heat to the porch if absolutely necessary.

Sorry to ramble excited to be here.

I'm excited to say that it looks like they'll be getting 12 hours of natural light and 12 hours of cfl @100 watts (real) I SHOULD have pics of new leaves tomorrow as a new set appeared on one of the babies today!

Awesome Rhalley! My first real grow as well. if you don't count the shitty weed I grew in high school.
After their first night of cfl I was ASTONISHED at the growth overnight! Both of the bigger seedlings have 4 true leaves this morning. The little guys are puttering along as well. though I'll be happy if I get the two all the way to flowering. On to pictures, first a group shot with my little security guard.

The one on the right my Girlfriend has named Cheech, The left of course is Chong and the largest sprout is now shaggy.
I'll let her name them since she's so tolerant of me growing them!

Close up pics of the new growth.

Quick update. Things are going swimmingly. Everyone is growing at a different rate. Considering I only hoped to get one viable seedling I think I'm in good shape. Going to have to re-pot I suspect. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Glad to have you on board. What a learning experience this is. I'd done so much reading that I came into this fairly confident. It's amazing how addictive tending to a little garden can be. I still don't expect a whole lot out of this grow since for all intents and purposes it's my first but I tell you, they're starting to smell so nice that I'm excited for what the next few weeks brings.

It's always an excitement, I only got one grow under my belt but every chance I got I was in my closet looking at my plant and just watching it grow crazy, lol. It was just some more sativa bag seed but I hope to get a good auto going on my balcony, kinda hard cause of the family and shit, but definitely looking nice, I'm gonna be looking at this thread like everyday for the next 7-8 weeks. But yeah they do make it seem just too easy to throw a grow in and go, and then when you start facing problems you question your own mistakes, lol

I totally understand where you're coming from. My teenager is under the understanding that I'm growing tomatoes. I broke down and put up the bulk of the plastic panels on my porch today. it's now for all intents and purposes a fully enclosed green house with a hot tub in it. It's a trade off to keep the heat in that there will be less air movement and more humidity. I have vents, fans, and a big door though so I should still have a ton of control. It'll be nice to have 80 degree "outdoors" until the end of November here in the golden horseshoe.

if it is an autoflower it does not require 12/12 to flower. it will flower at 18/6 or 20/4 24. even 12/12 but juts throwing that out there for you.

Indeed. They do seem to be flourishing under 24 hours of light. I'm quite surprised that they don't seem to need a rest period at all.

Another week another update. We had a minor mishap and one of the stems got bent, she's recovering fairly well though has some curling on some leaves but is still growing and budding. Everyone else is just going gangbusters.

I figure I have two different pheno's as two are short and bushy and two are tall and lanky under identical conditions.

I splashed some nutes on one of the leaves on a different plant and it clearly burned.

The bud in the macro image is about an inch by an inch, it's a heck of a start!

Chopped the first two today. Two left to pull. It's been quite a ride, learned a LOT cannot wait for next year! But of course I can't post pics because of the site issues. Pics when it's fixed.
