I went to see what arduino is. It is card, but i really don't know what to do with it?!?
What to do with this?
Plug dim+ and dim- to a certain kind of arduino card (i saw some at 4 €)

Thanks sxott and everyone else. I think i have decided on 2 http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Mean-Well/HLG-185H-C700B/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvV8Y9YugmIgmy193Qkqm18MYy3MuBDghw= with dimming for the beginning of veg as suggested. How does everyone think this would work? Should keep everything above 50% efficiency. What dimmer would be the best option?

Sorry tim but it will be a solid 2 months before those happen. Gathering info first and planning with more planing. I do not want to screw up on this and fry 700 in led's lol. Also for a nice teaser this will be all aluminum frame in 3'x1' should look nice when its all said and done.

700 is going to be crazy efficient to run them cobs at. I think you should go with a 1400. That way you can have big flower power on tap when you want it. I think its better to have the power that you can turn down ( this also raises efficiency like using a smaller driver ) than wishing you had more later. Drivers are the same price.

Another thing is if you really are determined to use the 700, Then you can put all 8 cobs on one driver. 4 CXB3590 will only be using half your driver if its a 700 ( You want to use as close to 100% of it as possible to get the full efficiency) . 700 go up 286 volts out (enough for 8 cobs). The 1400 goes up to 143 Volts out (enough for 4 cobs).

I run my CXB3590s at 1400 and its still 51.67 efficient.

For dimmers:
100k liner pot per driver. If your using 2 drivers and want to tie them together on one dimmer. Than use a 50K.

Great info and love the pictures! In short i will need them to be efficient as possible to keep as much heat out as i can, no AC. I do not want to run into a 90degree day and fry everything. Plus the savings on the electric bill will be nice.

Has anyone tried using these? http://www.mouser.com/Passive-Components/Potentiometers-Trimmers-Rheostats/Slide-Potentiometers/_/N-9q0yl?P=1yzotm4 I like the slide function more than a turn wheel and not much of a price difference. How much of a Power Rating would i need? Sorry for all of the questions. I feel this is basic stuff i am asking but i have no idea on this stuff and so far i have learned a lot from everyone you have all been really helpful thanks!

I all most scrapped my plans after hearing about the Area-51 Cob. Then i seen its using the Vero 29 v2 so back to pushing forward. The price point is nice but i rather have something better and this i can say i made.

Would the 8 CXB running at 1400 be overkill in a 2X4?

I found something i think a few people will be interested in. http://www.ebay.com/itm/36-heatsink-LED-light-frame-DIY-for-coral-reef-tank-aquarium-/252032652448?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3aae5114a0 For the amount of heatsink you are getting its a great deal. I am going to passive cool after finding these. 2 of the 36" and 1 24. I will run 3 3000k on each 36" and the 2 remaining 5000k on the 24" should be overkill but that is how i like it lol.

Has anyone bought from here? http://m.kingbriteled.en.alibaba.com/productlist.html Prices are way better on them compared to mouser. This would be the leds i should run with the http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Mean-Well/HLG-185H-C1400B/?qs=/ha2pyFaduiOPDwH1bzWDeNbHyap57y0MIleIV+NXqrhBttFRNVHAg== correct?

Bonjour
I wait for 4X3590 from kingbrite and I never heard complain about them it is the contrary peoples in here advice me to buy from them and i believe they are reliable.
And they have top bin for every cob, i am not sure they have 5000k top bin in mouser.
Have a great day ★
I got an email from them the other day, let us know when you get your stuff and if you're pleased, will ya?

thanks everyone and sxott should i just stick with heatsinkusa and do their 5.8 in the same configuration? Any chance someone can post the email to message him at for the Cob's?

My go to configuration is now 400 watts in a 2x4 area using 2x 45" 5.88
That adds up to about 63 cm square per watt. With fans, it does not even get warm. If my fans fail, there is enough heatsink for it to run passive until I can get to fixing it.
I only run it at its full 400 watts the last 5 - 6 weeks of flower thou.
A lot of folks look to build cheaper but I figure the extra money spent is more than recouped in the first harvest anyway AND you have a long term rock solid light you will be glad you didnt take any shortcuts on later.
The light on the table now:
newbuild.jpg
Its about 400 watts using cxb3070 but it would be the same light with 4 3590s on each.

Also, grams/square ft is more important to me than grams/watt but I still like to keep efficiency above 50%

Check out this guys grow. He does it the same:

Bonjour
I took the Chinese post option which is cheaper, so , i believe that I will have to wait longer to get my cobs.
Is anyone used the same shipping option? Was it long?
What mean RCH? (Sorry!)

bro i grabbed heatsink on ebay by searching for the dimensions i needed..i grabbed a scrap 31" x 12"' weighs 29#...supra did calcs and said it was good for about 225w passive.

I mounted 4 x cxb3590 3500 cd 72v on it. running them on a pair of hlg 120 700.56%.
Cobs also from kingbrite.

I am also about a 2x 4'. one pair of those 3590s sit on each end of an optic vero 360. so there is about 560w all day. the optic is about 40% efficient.About 250 par watts all combined right?
