Well, in hopes that the OP comes back, I don't wanna bash him. But for any other beginners that may see this post and the OP as well...Medium choice did not kill this grow...

This is the result of someone spending money, getting things set up, starting a grow...but never taking the time to learn how to grow a plant. Cannabis Cultivation is not rocket science certainly. But, a bit of persistence and a lot of learning go a very long way.

You're absolutely right, I didn't really mean it like that. I only meant that learning a hard medium grow would probably be easier for him, but new guys can certainly learn hydro.

Totally agreed...lot's of successful newbies using other than soil mediums. Tons of them here on RIU alone. Some are just gifted farmers...most learned all they could from RIU, YouTube, Books, Magazines first.

I used to work as a counselor for youthful offenders...in a live in residence program that was 90 days long. Parents would bring their kids to me and basically say...Ok, I fucked my kid up for 14 years...fix him in 3 months.

Metaphorically that is what the op did. Only his kids were already beyond help.

Well Capt...I would like to make a suggestion....Keep the hydro equipment for future growz. But, you may want to get a grow or 2 under your belt. For that purpose soil is IMHO going to allow you to learn something about cultivation and to get a successful result. Soil is very forgiving and easier to deal with for an absolute new grower. In soil, if your gurlz develop issues it gives time, even a few days, to diagnose and correct. In a hydro environment the same issue can kill a plant in hours.

Now, I stand behind what I said about new growerz being successful with hydro and soil less mediums. But, it seems as if you are wanting a plug and play type of grow...and that just isn't going to happen especially in hydro (unless you spend some serious cash and get a BC northern lights box and even then). There is a lot to learn about growing as a whole. As indoor growerz we are responsible to create an environment conducive to growing a healthy plant...it is essential that we learn how to properly care for a plant and give it what it needs and when it needs it. There is a lot of education required to get a grow dialed in and not kill plants left and right. Hydro growerz say they produce better yielding, better tasting, quicker growing plants than they did/do in soil. I do not dispute the truth in that.

But, if I had a new grower ask me what they should go with their first time out I would always say soil.

But, it seems you are determined to do the hydro thing and I wish you luck. I think you should perhaps start by reading and posting your questions in the Hydro forum...https://www.rollitup.org/f/hydroponics-aeroponics.50/

you're from aus i rekon i no the guy u got that setup off
From OP "I just recently purchased a system from a friend 8 plants all set up and ready to go . There's 2 problems. 1 there all dieng and 2 I do not know what to do"

Your friend is an a-hole for selling you this setup with such little support that you have to find external help only to be told they are toast. Good to hear you're not giving up, if that happened to me I would have rage quit especially since my "friend" assured me this was a turn-key ready to go grow.

But please stick around RIU...it is a 1 stop shop...All you need to know is right here. You are most welcomed.
That about sums in up in a nut shell.
