I have an issue. I'm currently running a 1000 watt hps hortilux eye in a air cooled block buster hood in a 4x4x7.5 tent. I have eleven plants which I vegged 24 hrs under a 600 watt hps hortilux eye. I vegged them for about a month and a week and I have had to do tons of pruning and trimming once flipped to 12/12. They are a little over 2 weeks in flower and pretty damn compacted in there but I trimmed most of bottom growth and they have really nice huge tops.
I've got really good ventilation considering I can keep my hood 6-7 inches above the tops and maintain a room temperature of 75-79 degrees. I know the closer the light the bigger the buds and more lumens they receive, I moved the light up to about 12 inches for better canopy coverage. Still it seems at that height the plants in the edges of the tent isn't getting near as much intensity as the center, would I be better off keeping it close or trying to move it up until all plants are equally lighted? I have a mixture of Indica hyrbrids and sativa doms, mostly indicas though. The taller plants I have on edges and the smaller indica leaning strains centered. Some are on top of pots to maintain an even canopy.
And I thought about using some type of supplementals to what little bottom branching I do have and even the side branches of the mains since its so compact aren't getting as much light to make me comfortable. Its mainly the tops getting direct light. So here are my questions in order:
1.) Should I raise the HPS further for even canopy coverage?
2.) Should I hang cfls from top of tent down to center of the spacing in the plants? below the tops?
3.) Should I add an extra 600 watt bulb to the 1000 and just maybe dim it to about 450 watts? Btw I can also maintain temps even with this method, that's not a problem. But if the cfls in your experience/opinion would work pretty well as in the above listed method id rather choose that route due to electricity cost.
Next time I will not veg "trees" with that many in a small space lol. But its not nearly as bad as I thought, the airflow is good which is a plus. They also have been flowering about 2 and a half weeks exact and all have been topped and trained as needed.
Btw I already fell in love with the two Sannies Killing Fields that I have. Since the first calyx and hair has formed they are all so purple they look black. Now that its progressed some there are huge snow white hairs with a purely deep purple center calyxes. I can tell this will be some beautiful solid purple nugs, purpelest strain ive ever seen! Thanks guys for stopping in!
